Good Alignment Shop in SoCal
 

I am looking for a good alignment shop in Southern California near Irvine to take my RX-7 to. Need to alignment both front and back as it is fairly messed up.

you can drive 2 hours to Santa Barbara, there's a really nice one in town. Everything is computerized and it uses lazers, well maybe not lazers but they put light sensors on each tire and the main machine shines at it with LED's... Gives you a print out of all your camber, caster, toe-in etc etc. also. Not the semi-ghetto ones at discount tires. think it was $90..and $40 for gas to drive here :D

the shop is in Goleta, it is called superior brake and alignment. The number is 964-1167. It should be Don working the phones. Really cool and really good driver :)

How did you do at Willow? A friend of mine named Doug in a silver C5 Corvette was out there also. He was supposedly quite fast.

I could also possibly visit one in San Diego also...

If someone recommends one in San Diego, I will just drive the RX-7 to SD for work.

It was my first time on a real track - there were a couple of C5's and a Z06, was he the heavily modified one with all the decals?

Ask Your friend if he caught my Big Spin (driving my Silver 3rd gen)on the main straight!

No - I dont think I will be able to do another Track event for a while - I need to get some New Tires before i head out to the track again.

I will ask him about the spin. He was the silver C5 with no decals and just an exhaust and intake system mod. Supposedly, he was the fastest in his group.

After visiting several shops around in the area, they could not either take the car on their ramps (too low) or could not fit the adapter on the wheels as they are 18". I will take the car to Goodyear in the next couple of days and let you know the results. They are charging lots of dough though. Something like $125 for the alignment.

From my experiance trying to get a good suspension setup in Orange county, there is no one willing/able to do the things I want.

I have gab super R's with the coil over conversion, 18" rims and I'm really anal about the suspension.

There were only a few places that had the scales to do corner ballancing, most were porsche places and they wouldn't even consider it since they were all soooo busy. Xpengineering (www.xpengineering.com) is in orange and apparently has scales, but I'm reasonably sure they don't have an alignment rack, maby laser strings. I'm going to try them next time I need mine done when the busing set gets put in.)

I ended up driving upto Canoga park to have tripoint do it. They did do a really good job, even though it was expensive.

I'd be interested to hear where som of the other OC people go (Max Cooper)

Got the car aligned at the local Goodyear place for $125. It took them about 1 hr to do it - no parts required.

They found the rear was toed out a bit as well as one of the tires in the front. The car tracks better and feels more planted. However, when your foot dips into the power, the car gets all 'skwormy' again. It is not bad - just subtle and annoying. It is just enough to break your confidence. I did get it up to 130 mph in a short little distance and was not too bad. It is just when power is being applied.

In thinking about all the dynamics the car is doing and my "finely tuned ass muscles" it seems like the springing is far too soft for this car. The car squats way too much as it loses wheel travel. Any bumps the car encounters causes the car to dart and become unstable. I am maybe encountering some bump steer as well. The car also rides l o w.

Therefore, I will now look at replacing the springs. Any spring recommendations for a 400-425 hp RX-7 with 18" wheels? Not interested in coil-overs at this point as the wife would not want to spend the big dollars right now - Christmas and all.

Any help/recommendations would be great!

He did see it! He said you came off the track on the left side because your wheel hit the right berm at turn one. This action upset your car as you spun off in the dirt. He said you should of done the trick with both feet in (one foot on the clutch and one on the brake). This would of been safer for you and the track.

Oh well, you live and learn. Remember, it is the turns that count!!!
Master them and the straights are a piece of cake. Just advice!
