FD Wheel Fitment Question
 

Ok well I just purchased a set of rims and I was wondering if you guys would be able to tell me how screwed I am before I try and put them on.

I just picked up a set of rims that measure 17x9.5 +12 offset. All 4 are the same.

Can anyone see any major issues with this setup on my fd? The car is lowered an unknown amount on a set of rsr drop springs. I presently have a set of 17x7 rims on the car and the rim just clears the fender so I am not too worried about that.

What I need to do to get these wheels working on my car? A minor fender roll and spacers?

Spacers?? Not trying to come off as a dick, but why wouldn't you research before you purchased wheels? Anyway, on the front you are pretty much screwed without wide fenders, or running a very narrow stretched tire and some negative camber. Those offsets are way too low for an FD. The rear will need the fenders pulled a good but as well, and you are probably still in trouble with much more than a 255 tire.

I didnt do any research because I love the rims and will do anything to make them fit.

I have more than one set of rims so I will always have something to roll on while I get everything setup for the new rims.

Sounds like it still might be cheaper, after cracked paint and dented fenders, to take it to a reputable shop, put down a credit card, and tell them to "make it work." Since you love the rims so much.

Well since the front fenders are fended and the paint is finished on them already I guess I can have some fun with them. I planned on going with a wide body so I'm basically where I want to be anyways with awesome rims to boot now

With a roll, alignment, and not too oversized tires, it can work.

You probably won't be slamming the car so it should not be a big deal.

Don't absolutely NEED a widebody for those wheels.

Well the plan is to rock the suspension I have now since its a nice stiff setup and I'm using the tires on the rims till they are dead. If I need to roll I will. If I need wider fenders I will. If I can rock it the way the car is now it will be awesome. If I need to bring the car back to stock ride height I will do that happily.

What size tire for stock modified fenders? 225/45? Stretched tires with cars that aren't slightly tucking just look funny to me. If you're gonna do it then do the style justice. Otherwise do what she said and increase the size of your rubber. Get the feed or burnout fenders with 255's. Still probably have to trim a little but that's just my opinion. Nowadays fitments have gone all haywire and don't always make sense. This is such a gray area.

Well I can tell you one thing. I AM NOT DOING ANY KIND OF STRETCH ON MY TIRES!!!

I never liked the look of a stretch and if I was going to use a smaller tire I would just get a smaller rim.

I am going to make it work without a stretch or any kind of camber. I am looking at a wide body kit if need be so I am no longer worried about this. I will however probably rock these rims on stock body if the tires on the rim are as finished as I believe they are.

looks like you have it all figured out. You'll go widebody... if you need to... or roll the fenders... if you need to... or adjust the ride height... if you need to... but you're probably just going to "rock these rims on stock body" (even though everyone has told you they won't fit without at least one of those previous modifications).

Oh well, looks like you've got it all figured out though... not really sure why you even posted the question if you already knew all the answers. I should have seen where this thread was going as soon as I saw :scratch:
