FD owners post your coilover setup and opinion
 

I currently have hipermax pros, the fronts are so bouncy, i have messed with the settings multiple times and cant get them to stop bouncing in front..think there blown.. So i am looking to buy new coil overs..but would like to know your opinions on different coil over setups you guys have.

Koni yellow with Ground Control sleeves are nice for the money

Tein Basics - ride pretty good. I think it absorbs the harsh roads more than the koni yellow

Pettit - was too stiff for me.

How much stroke do you have before hitting the bumpstops while at ride height?

I got the Ohlins DFVs back in 2013 when they were $3000 and I have not regretted it. Now you can get them for $2k!

Ride is incredibly smooth over potholes/rough pavement and curbing at the track.

I swapped out the front 11 kg/mm springs for 13 kg/mm (kept the original rear 11 kg/mm). This has made for a GREAT street/track setup.

For street only, I'd probably swap out the rear springs for 8 or 9 kg/mm and keep the 11kg/mm up front.

If I were buying today no question these are the coilovers I'd go with.

TEIN Street Flex with 8k/6k Swift spring, rides great, similar to the Tokico/Eibach setup I have on my daily.

But it is hard to not go with Ohlins when you can get them for $2k.

I found out my spring rates are 14/14k, im just going to get my front coils rebuilt instead of buying new ones. Do you guys think its worth to rebuild hipermax pros? how are hipermax pros vs like fortune auto? is 14k front and rear okay for street use? The rears seem fine at 15 clicks in (30 way adjustable). the fronts dont do much when i alter the dampening since i believe there blown. I was going to have feal rebuild the fronts.

+3 on the Ohlins. A better ride and better performance than the Koni yellows and sport springs I had before. And a lot cheaper now too!

I'm on fortune auto with swift springs and uprgaded bearings. I love them, decent travel, comfy ride, no noise. ive got about 15K on them now and they are going strong.

I bought them when the Ohlins were still 3K. That said, If i could have got the onlins for 2K when i bought the fortune autos...I probably would have bought ohlins. Not that there is anything wrong with the fortune autos, I recommend them to anyone who asks, but I believe the Ohlins are likely a superior product.

Those are high rates for the street.

I like rates in the 8/6 or 8/7 range for the street. I run the ohlins DFV with 8/6 right now and am going to be staying with these rates. A buddy of mine has ohlins and he swapped his to 9/8 and I think his car rides very well as well.

I had 12/12 ark coilovers and they were too stiff for the street, the ohlins 11/11 were also too stiff.

We have a friend with tein HT which I think is 18/18, we have ridden and driven that car and on the street its basically inoperable. The owner is going to be switching to different coilovers shortly, probably ohlins DFV 11/11. My buddy quotes, "I went to drive his car to compare my 7670 to his 8374, but his car was so stiff and rode so poorly that I didn't even notice the turbo that much, I would be going around a corner and I was literally skipping off the road."

Zeal B6 10k-10k

LOVE them. Made by the company that makes Endless brakes, so we know the build and material quality is up there. If and when they need it, sending them in for servicing is no biggie since they have US distributors and a good history of following up for their customers.

Among the best you can buy for a mostly-street driven FD. :nod:
They discontinued the B6, I believe, but they definitely have a replacement.

I have a set of HKS hypermax 3 sports and i like them, however the spring rates are quite stiff for a street car. I think they were 14k front and 12k rear, feels like my interior panels are gonna just rattle off.:pfanndina

Bilsteins with Ground Control adjustable heights. I have a few sets of different spring rates. I think currently I have 350 f 300 r for street.
