FC suspension question
 

I've got a 1991 TII and the stock suspension is just compelety worn out.
So I need some advice which or what I can buy.
I use the car mainly on the street but maybe I'm going to take it for a spin on the nurburgring some day.
I have read some topics around here and it's a bit confusing. If one says that tein is the best another one says it is bad.. the same thing with Jic and so forth.
so what is the best I can buy for around 1500 dollars? I'm looking for a setup which lowers the car a bit (1 or 2 cm) but with almost the same comfort as the stock suspension, mainly because in the netherlands we got many speedbumps and if my car is too low..

so far Tein, Jic and koni looks interesting..

and please don't discuss here but give advice.

ps. I'm going to fit 17" wheels in the future

Phoenix & Jarda are happy with their Koni yellow shocks and shorter/stiffer springs. Suspension Techniques in case of Phoenix's car. Its probably what u are looking for, useable on both streets/track and for reasonable price. Atleast in CZ are Koni easy to find for decent price.

^ what are we talking when we say "decent price"?

decent price means not 4 times more expensive than in USA, as it usuall on some stuff....

been able to get set of them for around 400 Eur

well, buying things in the USA isn't that bad because the dollar is so low these days:D.
so maybe a coilover is an option.. or is that just overkill for on the street? yellow koni's wouldn't be a problem getting here.. one of the factory's is just a few kilometres away

I have the FLTA2s. This application for the FC is one of the best rated. I have no complaints with it as of yet and have owned them for about 15 months. I plan on rebuilding them at the end of this year just as a basic maintaince step.

I've competed in track events here as well as mountain driving and they've held up incredibly well. However, they're certainly better suited to a track enviroment then rough/public roads.

If you don't want to spend a whole lot you can just get some kyb struts and an ebaich pro spring kit..works for me :)

I hope you guys realize that the original poster is from Europe.
Some of the imported U.S. stuff (originally from Japan) might be tempting, but what happens when something goes wrong?
If you do have a service center, it's most likely going to be in the UK - BIG BUCKS!

The Koni's are fine and local for northern Europe!

As far as Monotube coilovers for FC available in US I would definitely have to say the best value is found in the GP Sports GR6 and Silkroad RMA8. This both retail for about $1500 to $1600.00. We ship to netherlands. Are you looking to buy from US and ship out?

Koni, and sleeve system might be the best longterm way to go with regards to overhauls. I guess it just depends on the cost of such rebuilds in Europe and availability there of sleeve systems for FC. Shouldn't be hard to find. GC's are probably not much to ship int'l. Small box.

well I sure want reliabilty and sending the suspension to the US for an overhaul isn't an option. so probaly its going to be the Koni's..
The fc wasn't a popular car around here so almost none of the manufactures has made coilovers for it. well... I should have bought a BMW.. hu hu yeah right :rlaugh:

How about JRZ or Moton, both operating right out of the Netherlands.

lol They're fairly expensive compared to some of the Japanese manufacturers but the quality and driving dynamics of the shocks are incredible. I haven't checked in a while but I believe a double adjustable setup from JRZ would be in the $2500USD ballpark.

and the 4 way adjustable are about $7500USD!
