FC Powered by max Coilover front camber issue

ive been messing with the front coilover suspension and for some odd reason i cannot increse negative front camber. I have the camber/caster plates all the way in pointing to the fireway and still, if my wheels still seen to have POSITIVE CAMBER, i kept understeering at the last event at balcony i went to...

ive really been thinking of notching the bottom where the top bolt goes into(when it bolts up to the front knuckles.) so i can gain more camber but im still debating... any ideas?

I will post pics tonite

Dude you need to look in the drift section about suspension set up, but I got -5 camber on mine I mill the top plate more and opened up the top mounting bolt on the bottom mount like you said, but you also have to grind down some off your spindle other wise it will hit

good thanks for the help ive been looking at em but i guess im just gonna notch the holes abit more i guess and grind down the spindle where ever it hits with a grinder.

the strut tops should lean towards the engine, not the rear of the car. prolly have the plates rotated 90 degrees

midnightbluefc 06-14-10 06:28 PM

theyre camber caster adjusters no?

Josh18_2k 06-14-10 11:38 PM

take a pic..

Camber adjustment should move inboard/outboard, not front to back (that would be caster adjustment). Any chance you've got the camber plates installed wrong, as suggested above?

no there like martin's car from powered by max and the plates are the same way as mine, i even asked before i installed them....

midnightbluefc 06-23-10 10:43 PM

the thing with the powered by max coilovers is that the mounts are not just camber plates, there a combo of both caster and camber, so does any one have any pics of the way they shaved the spindle? i dont want to weaken it in any way....

i will notch the top bolt hole this weekend but, the psm coils dont really have much room to notch....

Yea you have to shave the spindle like a said before, otherwise it will bottom out on ur strut before you can reach your full adjustment, plus it has this lip that you have to take down on the side. If you get in there and do it you'll see what I'm talking about, and there's plenty of meat there to take off plus your not taking of that much, just enough

Josh18_2k 06-24-10 03:26 PM

ok, if you have the camber plates on correctly, and theyre leaned in towards the engine.. and you still have postivie camber, something is seriously wrong with your suspension. dont go cutting up parts trying to fix it. figure out whats actually wrong...

and wheres the pic of your camber plates?

twilight slide 06-25-10 10:29 PM

I'm sure u realize this Josh but the Pbm camber/caster plates are slotted diagonally...

+1 for figuring out the problem instead of trying to work around it.

midnightbluefc 06-25-10 11:35 PM

thats wat i meant... there not like megan or stance or any other coil over... thats y im posting this...

:facepalm2:

Josh18_2k 06-26-10 02:45 PM

get some pics dude. assuming the plates are on correctly, something is fuxor'd. most people get what, like 4 degrees out of them?

midnightbluefc 06-27-10 10:11 AM

i actually went on the drifting section and got some good info on it, i actually had to grind like not even 2mm off the knuckle so i could get the desired camber, along with slitting the top mount hole, like 10thslydur was telling me... thanks guys, id take pics but it would be the same set up as the pic i showed u guys...
