Enkei RPF1's SBC finish.. *pic request*
 

After a fun night of dialing in my new boost controller setup,.... I got a flat.... my flat turned out to be a cracked rim... Long story, short... I'm buying new wheels.

I have decided on the Enkei RPF1's for obvious reasons. But I have decided on the SBC finish. I think it will look good with my MB paint.

I will be running 9.5" x 18 on all 4.......

Anyone have pics of the SBC finish on a MB FD?

Just FYI,

This color is a special order in large lots 40+ wheels at a time to come into the states. As of right now there is no production scheduled and no distributors have placed a bulk order.

For this reason I don't think you'll be able to find originals unless they are used.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE: I CAN HAVE THIS FINISH REPRODUCED IN THE STATES.

sorry but you chose konig wheels over Enkei? Konig wheels do NOT belong on an FD ever, I'm sure others will agree.

Just my opinion, but it's your car......

Konig is cool...

If you are a King of fools and mistook your FD for a honda.

Hope you live on a really large billiards table.

The weight is around 20lbs per wheel. A scant 2 lbs heavier than the Enkei's. Konig's aren't a bad rim. If Honda owners starting putting Works wheels on, would you switch your wheels?

However, these negative comments do have me thinking..........

Thanks for your input all,.... I am reconsidering. I was never one to go cheap with my FD.... I simply liked the design and the price wasn't bad.

The price isn't bad because they are cheap knockoffs. I just scrolled through a listing of Konig wheels and it made me sick how they've copied many popular Volk, Advan, and Enkei wheels.

The RPF1s are 17 pounds in a nice beefy 18x9.5...... all the Konig weights are right around 23 pounds (or more) for an 18x8. Nice widths for a Civic, and 6 pounds per corner is a huge amount when talking rolling unsprung weight, It's like going from Floyd Mayweather to George Foreman :)

What's even more funny is that some Konig wheels are made by Rota, talk about cannibalizing the knockoff market :lol: :lol:

18x9.5 konig is listed at 21lbs... thats the same as a CCW in the same size.

I do thank all of you for the advice... I know your not hating,... Fellow FD owners are often passionate about others cars based on the love for the FD in general. It comes with the territory.

I am not buying the Konig's. I originally never would have considered them, but a cracked rim has forced my hand to buy something. I was originally going with Work Vs or Volk Gram Lights.... but the price is very high on short notice. Not that I can't afford it, I just wasn't prepared for the initial cost on short notice.

It is very clear to me now. I either buy the wheels my FD deserves, or wait until I can.

Yes,.. they are pricey. www.gramlights.com has them at around $2700 for the wheels. If I could find them for less, I would be very open to it. After reviewing HowardColman's FD wheel fitment and doing some research... I am still up in the air. The APEXI car is running...

Tires:
235/40R18 (front)· 265/35R18 (rear)

Wheels:
· Rays Gram Lights 57 PRO 9JJ-18 off +38 (front)· Rays Gram Lights 57 PRO 10JJ-18 off +22 (rear)

The offset seems a little low, but the pictures I have seen of the car, the stance looks clean. I also realize they are running their side skirts, which pulls out the bottom of the fender. I will not be using any side skirts.

I am in no hurry to order... with winter coming and my suspension needing completed at the same time, I have accepted the fact that I will not be driving my car. I just want to be sure about the offset and width I want....

I don't want to buy them twice...LOL

If there are some SSR 1 or 2 piece hybrid wheels you like (type c and type F) let me know. They are forged and I can probably do a set for quite a bit less than 2700. Depends on the size and color.

The 3 piece is usually a little cheaper too.

Sounds like you have some work to do in regards to wheel fitment and determining some constraints for your wheel choice.

if you're up in the air please PM me. I'm sure several FD guys can vouch for my ability to isolate wheels to suit your various needs or budget. if you're unaware of what you need but know what you want the car to do i can also aid you in a good wheel setup.

Buying the wheels is the easy part, making sure you spent your money wisely is the hard part.

Gram light 57Pro is a STUPID HEAVY WHEEL, IT'S GRAM HEAVY and expensive to boot.

Now that they are using a "stainless steel" polished lip fused to the aluminum alloy it only made it heavier. If you bend the wheel on the outside it can't be repaired.
