Enkei RPF1 17x9 35mm offset

I just bought my 93 RX-7, I was wondering I would be able to fit 17x9s 35mm offset front and back? I read the charts on wheel fitments but dont grasp it completely yet. Thanks

ARD T2 11-30-06 08:22 PM

No that would not fit but I have special ordered the +45 offset from Japan specifically for the FD.

ETA: Jan 20.

If you prepay you will get a spanking deal. We'll be setting up a GB this weekend.

Thanks, Rishie

Natey 11-30-06 08:31 PM

RIM-GURUsan really knows his wheels (especially for a Mazda), and RPF1s look nice on an FD. ;)

Specter328 11-30-06 09:04 PM

Thanks for the info, would I be able to use the 35mm offset on the rear or would I use 45mm all around.

rynberg 11-30-06 09:38 PM

Get it all around so you can rotate tires!

swif 11-30-06 09:39 PM

i am looking to get these rims. I am also looing at a few other that I have posted in the wheel thread. I was looking at 17x8.5 for front and 17x9.5 for rear with the 40 mm offset. If they come in the 45mm offset I think that will work better.

Let me know when the gb is and I my have to make my mind up sooner.

scratchjunkie 11-30-06 10:16 PM

yo rishie, what would the price look like for a sw20? is 17x8 all around possible for the duece or what would be a recomended size?

ARD T2 11-30-06 11:28 PM

haha, thanks nate for the props. He would know, he's got RPF1's too. hehe.

But not the Sleeper fitment 17x9 +45 with 255/40 all the way around. that's the stuff magic is made of. hehe.

Wanna move up nate?

ARD T2 11-30-06 11:58 PM

OK so you can definitely go with the +45 front and +35 rear if you desire a wider wheel track in the rear. you can definitely do this with 255/40 all the way around and that is a HAWT setup. That's my personal setup but most FD's would rather rotate tires and if they run assymetricals for autox/circuit that's even better./

OK so the 8.5 and 9.5 only comes in a +40 front and +38 rear. Those should be in stock and I can give you a good deal on them.

We all suggest going symmetrical as your car will handle better and retain the true characteristics of the FD. So with 8.5 and 9.5 you'll be stuck running something like a 245/40 and 255/40 or you can do 235/45 and 265/40, or 225/45 and 255/40.

Scratch, for the SW20 i been banging my damn head on this shit. Pissing me off cause that's another one of my secret fitments. hehe. But damn they don't have it for shit in terms of offsets.

Here's the other thing 8's don't fit well on the front of the MR2. Esp with coils. You'd basically need a 8 +25 just for backspacing clearances. It will surely rub. If you're not running coils then you can do the +30 but you're stuck on suspension for a while.

In the rear I can get it down to a 8" +30 basically.

Enkei offers:

17x8.0 +35, you would need a 10mm spacer which I can get no prob and shouldn't require pressing of studs with this wheel. If you roll the front fender and pull it a little you can definitely make this fit. I have a good MR2 friend with a 3G motor and i did a VIP fitment on it. Stock fenders modified, frikin 18x8.5 with a +15 and 19x10 +30. He's running 225/35 and 265/30 i think or something. STOCK FENDERS PULLED A LITTLE AND ROLLED. It can be done for sure.

In the rear I can run a standard 17x9 +45 like for the FD and you'd be great. If you want a 8.0" wheel then get the +35 for the rear and you're set.

Basically the wheels could rotate if you had the same size tire all the way around. THE BIG QUESTION IS: What tire size do you plan to run bro? in 17 on MR2 you're almost stuck with a 215/40/17 in the front.

On the MR2 i really recommend staggering with it's tendency to oversteer. If you need to improve steering response we can do that by widening the track or tire but let's make it balance out right. Feel free to tell me what your thoughts are in detail via PM or email. sales@autornd.com.

Hope that was a little informative.

I've been emailing with Rishie about the upcoming Group Buy, and I can say the price is SMOKING!

Specter328 12-01-06 12:24 AM

I was hoping I could run +45mm all around because I do want a symmetrical setup. One more question about this wheel, I plan on running a front Grex 13 inch brake kit (4 pot), I shouldn't have a fitment issue correct?

ARD T2 12-01-06 12:48 AM

Won't work. This setup will only work with OEM Japan or US brakes for the most part. It is a low disk wheel.

Issue is that this is really a rear wheel so it doesn't allow for big brake clearance. You will have the concave face in the front and rear.

Rishie

Specter328 12-01-06 12:59 AM

If I added a 10mm spacer would it work? I would probably need either the fenders rolled, or wider fenders for it to fit in correctly.

ARD T2 12-01-06 01:15 AM

YES THAT WOULD WORK FOR THE REAR ONLY TO WIDEN THE WHEEL TRACK.

IF YOU WANT TO DO THAT FOR THE FRONT TO CLEAR BRAKES IT MAKES NO SENSE AS THE WHEEL AND TIRE WILL RUB. IT WON'T WORK WITHOUT WIDER FENDERS AND A SPACER. I CAN SOURCE THE SHINE AUTO SPEC B FRONT FENDERS AT A PKG DEAL FOR YOU AND MAKE THAT HAPPEN THO.

Once i get this wheel i'll be able to take inside spoke and disk measurements. I'll post those up so you can compare it to the Clearance data for the brake system you choose. Only issue is you might lose out on the DEAL. So please decide or make sure someone can take your spot in the event this doesn't work.

If that's your objective. You can then rotate as well. I can even supply the studded hubcentric spacers. I just need to make sure the cavity in the back of the RPF1 is at least 15mm deep to soak up your protruding stock stud thru the 10mm spacer. THat spacer with hubring would be about $135.00 shipped approx.

GROUP BUY IS UP!!!!!! TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS, WIVES, GIRLFRIENDS, MOMS, DADS. EVERYONE WHAT YOU REALLY WANT FOR XMAS. hehehehe.....

Thanks, I'll have to think about, what do those fenders look like?

I was also hoping to run these rims with a big brake kit. I've seen pics of the 8.5" +40 clearing Stoptech and AP calipers - Would it look strange to run the 8.5" +40 in front and the JP spec 9" +45 in back? If my calculations are right that should put the front .65" closer to the fender with the rears .7" closer.

I understand that I would probably need to buy a set of four 9" +45 and then get the 8.5s seperately.

Your thread on the GB page got owned lol.

ARD T2 12-01-06 09:00 PM

It's back. Sometimes the admins must forget who i am. lolz. It baffles me. I didn't post in our subforum so they moved it. Weak. I'm gonna try and get it back there cause that's where the party's at.

There are so many things I want for my RX7... :(

Eggie 12-02-06 10:27 AM

eastcoastbumps, what front brakes are you running? How much room is there between the caliper and wheel?

ARD T2 12-02-06 01:38 PM

Ok so on east's car he went with the 17x8.5.

That wheel will clear brakes because the spokes bow outwards. There's two different faces for the RPF1. The 17x9 wheel however is designed as a rear wheel therefore the spokes curve inwards as in the picture i posted.

I'm waiting to get a Big Brake kit template from one interested person so that i can forward it to Enkei and hope they take the time to measure for me in Japan.

On EAST's car it' looks like stock FD brakes to me.

Thanks, Rishie

Ah - now I get it. I suspect this would be pretty obvious with both wheels side-by-side. Sorry if I'm just slow.

Which kit's template are you forwarding to Enkei? Stoptech's PDF is here.

eastcoastbumps 12-02-06 10:39 PM

Yes, stock FD brakes. I never paid close attention to brake clearance, so I'm sure there is plenty. I also don't own an FD anymore, so I can't test fit and give you a measurement.

ARD T2 12-03-06 03:08 AM

So here check it out.

FACE 1 : NO 17X9.0", ONLY 17X8 AND 17X8.5, ALLOWS FOR LARGER BRAKES.
FACE 2: YES TO 17X9.0, BUT LOSE BRAKE CALIPER CLEARANCE.

I'm gonna call the "Big brake FACE" FACE 1, it bows outward and looks like this:
http://www.autornd.com/catalog/album...nkei/RPF12.jpg

Not sure if you can tell but the spokes come outward allowing more room for calipers.

The Stock FD rotor has such a huge rotor hat that it doesn't stick past it hardly at all i think. That all changes when you go to a Two piece aftermarket brake system.

FACE 2 is below:
