Ebay Strut Bars for the FC

Any thoughts on these? It's so cheap I've got to wonder?

I know it's not JDM or a namebrand, but seriously what can go wrong with a strut bar, I mean it's a piece of metal?

Anybody have one?

They are fine except for one problem - a major design flaw, which without modification makes them good only for decoration.

The centre section has a thread tapped into it, into which the side bolts screw in. This means that all the pressure that should be placed on the strut bar, is instead placed onto the point in the thread where the nut meets the centre bar, on each side.

The way to fix it is to piss off the silly alloy centre bar, and replace it with a steel rod with hollow holes either end. Then simply push the bolts into the holes and attach the strut-tower tops.

I got one off of ebay. I don't remember who the seller was but it didn't fit the car at all. The ring that goes around the top of the strut tower was too small on the inside diameter. I took a dremel and went around the inside to widen out the ring until it was wide enough to sit down on top of the strut tower like it was supposed to. Then, the hood wouldn't close because the bar was too high. So I lost $15. Next time I'll pay the extra money and get one designed specifically for a FC.

$14.99 + $100 worth of hassle. Scroll down to near the bottom of the page:
