Which coilovers to go for (FD)?
 

hi guys
so i would like to change my coilovers.... and just wondering ..which coilovers will be a best match to my requirements
the coilovers i have rite now are too stiff and everytime i go over a bump .. i feel like i am guna brerak something in my car... and they cannot be adjusted :( thats how the car came .... cant do anything about it

1.so i am looking for coilovers which will drop my car about an inch nothing more
2. coilovers that can make my ride really smooth since i dont track it..

i mostly do highway driving and some city driving.. keeping in mind that toronto roads are garbage

Sounds like you would be fine with just springs and adjustable shocks, probably your best bet for 1" drop and smooth ride.

coilovers are inherently stiff and jarring....

your best bet if you want a softer setup is to just go with Koni yellows and some lowering springs.

especially if you dont track your car.... kinda pointless and a waste of money.


unless you absolutely know the ins and outs of a suspension setup, track your car regularly, can actually FEEL a difference in slight suspension changes.....youre better off with a shock/spring combo.

I run Koni Yellows(3-way adjustable) with Tein S-Tech springs and its stiffer than stock, but not jarring, and very compliant.

I spent a total of $600 on this setup.


And honestly.... you may be able to get away with just changing the springs in the coilovers to a softer spring rate...

What coilovers do you have anyway?

I agree with him. Eibach springs and Koni shocks. Done.

My car had tokico illuminas when I bought it and it rode very nice paired with R1 springs, when my engine was built at Rotary Power Jeff even commented how it was one of the nicest riding FD's he had driven, just another option to consider although you really cant go wrong with koni yellows, not sure if there is a difference in price.

if i just change the springs on my coilovers .. will that work?
but dont know where to order the right set of springs and will it fit my ciolovers or not?
rite the spring rate is 10k at front
and rear 8k.. coiloversare some jam sports(japanese brands)
can i stil buy replacement springs?

Measure your spring dimensions and see if swift makes a replacement for them, it's usually only recommend to change the rates by 2k max unless you want to re valve the dampers

Whats your budget? I have a nice set of brand new blitz zz-r coilovers for $1299 and a set of cusco coilovers with independent oil reservoirs, some other options to based on your budget.

well the car is in storage rite now
but i will be ordering parts rite after christmas
i really like the showa or sumthing like that coilovers this guy sold it for around $600 to sum guy in canada

i think they came stock in sum later 02 FD's in japan..i hope u get which 1 i am talking about
