Cleaning bronze Volks

Guys,
Quite frankly, my bronze SE37A's are looking like crap thanks to water spots, hazing, etc...which are really making the rims look dull. I've tried two different aluminum polishes, Mother's and Eagle One. I've used nothing but soap/water in cleaning them but I can't get back that original shine. Any suggestions? Anyone else noticing the same thing? I'm not real happy with how these rims handle day to day grime. Thanks in advance.

Damn, I dunno. My bronze TE-37s are the rough finish except the lip; I haven't had any problem keeping them pretty, but they haven't gotten wet while hot (water spots/hazing). I would use a very mild detergent to clean and maybe a natural wax to shine up the powdercoat? Hope the alum. polishes didn't haze up the powdercoat w/ abrassives. Did you just mean a spray on rim cleaner? Or really a paste polish w/ abrasives?

yes, just spray on rim cleaner and aluminum polish. The SE37A's are not powdercoated. They're anodized aluminum. At first I thought it was perhaps the Hawk street pads, but the rears, which have the stock calipers/pads, are just as bad. I'll try and post pics.

Mike,

You're gonna need something that's meant for cleaning anodized items. Same shit happened with my Kinesis wheels. Except I just sent them out to get powdercoated. Screw the anodize.

I did find something that works rather well. The rims aren't as good as new, but they're very close. It's Blue Magic Metal Polish Cream. There is also a metal cleaner that is apparently sold at ACE Hardware which works very well but I have not had a chance to try it yet. The Blue Magic has that ammonia smell, same as the stuff used to clean silver and other precious metals. The Mothers and Eagle One polish do not. I'll try and get some before/after pictures. It takes FOREVER to clean these wheels! Why again did I want a multispoke design? :-)

I've been using the mothers "billet" polish on my Kinesis...it's much better then their normal polish in the red can.

Cool. Thanks for the head's up. I'll see if I can find it.
