Bumpsteer Spacers...Help?

I had to lower my steering rack about 2" because of my motor swap, and I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for finding some kind of bumpsteer spacers or whatever components I'm going to need to reduce/eliminate any bumpsteer.

Advice/suggestions welcome.

Haters are not. hehe ;P

Thank you, gents! :D

Since no one responded, I went ahead just did some further research myself.

I came across Hinson Super Car's Bumpsteer Kit:

Hinson Super Cars - Bumpsteer Kit

http://www.hinsonsupercars.com/image.../large/740.jpg

"Adjustable height tie rod end replacement used to compensate for the changes in the mounting height location of the steering rack. This new version comes with a safety wire hole drilled below the installed nylock nut.

*NEW* - We have built custom one piece rod ends that eliminated the welded sleeve we previously used. These rod ends are available separately for replacements or upgrades for existing customers.

Kit will work on '93 model 16" wheels. You may have interference problems on '94 & newer 16" wheels. No clearance issues on 17" or greater size wheels.

These kits are typically in stock. Please allow 1-3 days for shipping after your order has been placed."

Price: $140

Sounds good to me. I think I'm going to give this a shot.

I'm told that the Hinson bumpsteer spacers don't provide enough of an adjustment to compensate for the 2" drop of my steering rack...I've e-mailed them and another manufacturer to clarify, but no responses yet.

Pretty annoying situation.

You can get longer studs (the part with the taper). Circle Track suppliers sell them for about $10-$15 each. They also sell the accompanying single piece spacers, so you don't have to stack them, which makes it weaker. Mustangs have this problem BIG-TIME. I've seen 2-3 inches of spacer used!

Is the Hinson rod end metric? Obviously it has to be 12mm where the inner tie rod threads in, yeah? How did they achieve the thread? Is there an insert, or did they have a custom made rod end with 12mm shank and 14mm/5/8 ball?

I have no idea as to the specifics of this Hinson product.

Do these Circle Track suppliers guys basically sell complete "kits" or are you saying I am going to have to buy someone else's "kit" AND buy their additional studs/spacers?

Can I just buy the longer studs/spacers and bolt them into the factory hardware, is that an option?

Help? lol
