Budget coil overs?

I had a set of Tein basic coil overs I bought off ebay for $700 shipped on my last FD. They were ok, the road noise wasent too horrible.

Whats a good set for around the same price? I do auto x, track days, basic racing. I do drive the car on the street alot.

My friend has Cusco adjustable ones that he loves. I think they were $1400.
I also have a chance to grab some low mileage coil overs from a local, I will find out more. I know they are red and have a knob for adjustment.

i dont think your going to find another set of coilovers for $700, nothing decent until you get into the 1,000 range unless you can find something used.

See if ground control can do bilsteins for your car. They won't be damping adjustable, but they should be fine for your uses. I would run bilsteins if I could.

Tein Basics are about the cheapest you'll get. Megan and Apexi are also $1000 or less range. However, if you plan to auto-x, I would recommend getting a decent suspension setup. Some Koni adjustable shocks matched with some Ground Control coilovers would be a good setup. It won't be $700 though.

yah ground controls are close to $600 in themselves plus koni yellows are around 500 so your at 1100. At that point i would buy the tein flex's and call it a day.

IMO, you'll still have a better setup with the Koni's. I've seen a lot of shock dyno's around and Koni's surpass a lot of shocks out there. Also, Koni's can be revalved for exact spring matching.

I used to own a Datsun 510, and had a sentra. There weren't many coilovers offered, so people would get inserts that were shorter tahn normal and put GC coilovers on.

Are there any Koni's that are shorter to put into my fc?

Why would you need to do that? The koni + GC coilover combo works perfectly.

I guess for those cars, people end up lowering them around 2" and you loose a lot of needed suspension travel. I guess it depends on how much you drop the car. That is why coilovers come with a lot shorter shocks than stock or stock replacements
