those are not the DD or PROseven those are a basic coilover

Oh...after doing more research i found some DD and not pro seven for sale for the FD and Tanabe's website is not helping much...what are the specs on these besides being race only and and not having any info on the manufacturers website and prob being around 1800+ ...guessing estimate...and are these even available yet...

no you cant. the coils are nto a full race product, hoever they offer race versions.

honestly for the price you should go with some buddy club, KTS, or silk road... listed in my order of preferance

Speaking of Buddy Club's, I just noticed the D1 Spec's. They come with 10k/8k...15 way adj. Plus they're priced at $1,050.... Hmmm, I think I might go for these.

Yes they do look pretty good...and the price is nice...i wonder why that is tho...they seem to be made like the N1+ thats the only thing that will make it seem in that price range and the manual that comes with it shows both D-1 and N1+ logos...

buddy clubs first choice out of the three... i havnt heard anythign about thier D1 spec coil yet, i hope it is good

Silk roads are supposedly pretty good as well, i just dont have anyone on here with them to confirm...same for KTS, lot of people like them, but none seem to have them that can report on them...Hope to get some info on all of these...

While I haven't used any of these suspensions on an RX7, I do have Buddy Club RSDs on my Civic (in fact, I think those dyno charts of the BCs posted are mine :) ). They've lasted a year of abuse so far (bunch of track time, street time, and really-friggin-awful-condition street time), maybe 25,000 miles altogether. One of the shocks just recently started getting soft, but the others are still nice and firm. Now, when I say firm, I mean firm. If your car is primarily being street driven, there are better options available. I have 10K front and 7K rear rates, which pretty much suck on the street and just recently wound up being a little soft in the rear on track. Talking to a number of the RX7 track guys, you DO NOT want rates that high, even for track use. Again, I don't have any personal experience with 7s (yet, just picked up an FC Tii), so I can't confirm that.

One of the other things you should keep in mind is convenience of rebuildability (er...not really a word, but whatever). BC USA offers a rebuild service for about $100 per shock. Koni also has a fantastic rebuild service. Silk Road and KTS, do they even have anything available in the States? It'd be something to consider at least.

And lastly, with the FC I'm putting back together, which will be primarily a street car, I'm going with Koni yellows and mild spring rates. The Konis are really a fantastic shock, even if you don't care for their height and damping adjustment. The support behind them is downright incredible too. This coming from a BC and Zeal owner (had B6s on my ITR about a year ago).

thats awsome to know those are your dyno charts. how did you like the BC compared to the zeals?

As far as Buddy Club quality, I have helped install these on a friends 350Z and these coilovers are very nice and very good for the price. I too drive a 350Z (selling soon and getting a 7) and his suspension compared to my stock was a vast improvement and the car felt very stable, solid, and streetable even though we had only done minor adjusting of dampening. And the copycat cheap qoutes people have been saying... ignore that, Buddy Club is a well established company that does a lot of R&D. I wouldn't hesitate on them after having helped put them on, seen the quality and so forth.... but Im holding out for Kei office.

be careful with kei office coilovers, they are either awsoem or crap. or i should say back in the day they were awsome not the qualiy has gone down.

Thats definitely good to know, especially since they are so pricey. Are the crap ones on 7's or just info through the grapevine?

i had a old set of Kei office coils for my s13, i got to drive another s13 later with new coils and they had gone the way of other coils that are over damped, they also blew in about a year.

Now does anyone know much about this set of BC coilovers from Rotary Extreme, they seem to hit all the points for the car...all thats left is opinions and experience...so has anyone tried these on yet...what do you think???

what are the spring rates for the buddy club racing specs? I've seen that places sell three different setups: w/out upper mounts, w/ upper mounts, and a 10kF 8kR kit... So what are the rates for the others? I didn't see anything on buddy club's site.

edit: just found it on buddy clubs site, got a little ahead of myself I guess. Says they are 10k/10k

So then would it be worth it to fork over the extra couple hundered these places are charging for the 10k/8k?

I've had several experiences with Buddy Club products and whoever it was saying that they are a shell company was talking out of his ass. They have been around for a long time and drop TONS of money into R&D for their products. I'm also ordering the D1 spec coils for my FC. Now Silk Road and KTS are also good companies that offer a good product for a good price. But the ability to rebuild the Buddy Club coils for $100 per shock is a huge plus. I'm not saying that you can't do that with the Silks or the KTS, but I just don't know if you can or not. Just my .02

KTS I know you can get them rebuilt or they will sell you new shocks for ~$500. Right now I'm debating between the KTS and Buddy Club..

I have more experience with different Buddy Club setups and several products from the Buddy Club line than I do with KTS so I can't really give you a valid opinion. I personally like the Buddy Club and that's who I chose to go with for my FC. I would be willing to bet that you can't go wrong either way though.

Thats nice to know...i guess buddy club is a good choice, I wish tho that people would tell more good and bad about the actual BC sets they have/had on their 7, and track their can once in a while...and how they performed lasted, broke, cracked, made noice, excess vibrations and failures...things like that...

the dont offten... so you dont hear of it and when the do BC is awsome to work with.

well... I was telling my boss, Paul Yaw, that I was gonna get some new suspension soon, and he wanted to know more about it. Then I told him there were some shock dyno's up of the buddy clubs, so he wanted to see em...

He converted the shock dynos in on the first page of this thread since they were in metric, and he said those are bullshit dampners... :( I'm not too familiar w/ shock dyno's, so he went on to explain to me why they are crap. First, I guess there is WAY too much rebound dampening, he said in an e-p miata sus he built he runs half that much dampening w/ 1000 lb springs in the front.

He also said that when you would put those on the car, it would "feel" incredibly responsive and you'd think you'd be driving a go-kart, but the traction wouldn't really be there.

He liked the dyno of the JIC's better but still thought it was shit.

So now I gotta look for something else.

most jap coils tend to have a high rebound, it is not ideal, that i will agree with. i would still take the buddy cubs over the JIC, because at the end of the day what buddy club sells is the exact thing they race and win on.

I have to agree with Catharsis on this one. The same BC coilovers you buy for your car are used on their race cars that take home wins on a pretty consistent basis. Now I'm not a fool and I'm sure that there is some revalving done for the race setups, but after speaking with a mechanic for a Buddy Club team he said that they aren't very different at all. Not like he would make a profit if I bought a set of them or not.
