Brembo GTR Calipers on FD

Does anyone have Brembo GTR calipers on they're FD? Not the ones from the Nissan GTR but the race calipers. Brembo sells a front GTR kit for the FD but have never seen anyone with this setup...... probably because it's around $8,000 just for the front.

You have no hope of ever needing that much caliper on an FD. That is why.

sounds like you answered your own question

yes I put them on my car, , x9 060 model monoblocks.

You will need a machinest to make you custom hats and mounts which is not a big deal. you will need high clearance rims too as they hold a very thick pad.

That must be the kit the OP is talking about. No mention of piston sizes and I would like to see what pads are available let alone their thickness?

Some more info on the FD front kit: https://www.racetechnologies.com/pro...ts/gt-3k-8039a

Cost is around 6k usd
4 Piston calipers
355x32 14" rotors

No idea on piston sizes or pad thickness etc...

I can't imagine using a caliper that requires that you remove it in order to swap brake pads on anything but a race-only car (as many high ens race calipers do). If it's a track day car, even a serious one, what a PITA.

Yeah, that's a pretty silly design. AP kit from Sakebomb or Racing Brake or StopTech are better options

ptrhahn 12-31-18 11:01 AM

It's a fine design for a real race car, when you're not swapping pads back to streets every event, and a good tradeoff for caliper stiffness. The StopTech bolt-in bridge is a good street/track compromise.

What's wrong with the tried and true 350z/370z Rotors + CTS-V/ATS Calipers? It's $1k tops, and will EASILY outperform in all operations due to it being an OEM design. Sure, it's not the lightest setup, but the pad availability is incredible and it'll last the life of your vehicle and then some.

I never knew that was even an option lol that's very interesting. Do you run that setup?

TwinCharged RX7 01-03-19 04:20 PM

Aren't the hubs bores different sizes on 350z vs FD? The volks on my old G37 (which is the same as a 350/370z) would not fit my FD , same bolt pattern, different hub bore.

ptrhahn 01-03-19 05:50 PM

Not exactly a kit. There's going to be work involved and I've no idea on piston sizes and balance with the rear.

OEM FD larger rotor setup is also very affordable, just nice to get rid of all the cast weight by using aluminum hats. Wish Sake Bomb made aluminum hats for the larger FD brakes front and rear.

Brekyrself 01-05-19 05:12 PM

Pistons are 30/36. Plugging the specs into the calculator floating around here, it appears very balanced with the stock rear brakes. If upgrading to larger rear's, a less aggressive rear pad may be required for optimal balance utilizing the stock prop valve.

Now just need a nice bolt in pedal assembly with balance bar.
