Brake Problem with my new brakes
 

i installed Russel stainless brake lines all around :ylsuper: , Brembo slotted rotors all around :suitdance , and Hawk HPS pads all around :pat:. oh yeah ATE super blue fluid bled through with a Motive Power bleeder(AWESOME!)

i think my right front pad might have glazed over already, not sure because i am not a brake expert. hehe. i am however compitent it working on brake systems. i have heard many bad things about the HAWK pads but they came with the car when i bought it so i figured i'd use them.

SYMPTOMS:
when i make a hard stop there is no noise, no grinding, no nothing. just hard stopping force baby! feels like my eyes are gonna pop out of my head. :icon_tup:

but when i make a slow, smooth "normal" stop so to speak, i hear a dreadful grinding noise from the right front only. sounds like metal on metal but the pads are still there, strange. i wll take the wheel off in a little while when the brakes cool down and check it out further.

anyone ever experience something similar to this? thanks

i did a quick inspection of the brakes with the wheel on and the rotor is smooth on both sides. so now i need to look a bit further.

Which Hawk pads did you use? HP+ are known to squeal a bit. But they don't always squeal, so it might be that one side squeals and the other doesn't without anything really being wrong with the brakes. Does it do the same thing with a passenger in the car?

Otherwise, I would just make sure the pads move freely and aren't hung up by brake dust build-up, paint bumps on the backing plate, etc. Also make sure you have all the shims and springs installed correctly. And that all the pistons in the caliper move freely. You can try a little anti-squeal compound on the backing plates and and/or shims, too.
