Big Brake upgrade
 

Hey all.
I have been doing some research....though probably in the wrong areas about bigger front brakes. I have read that the standard calipers are pretty good on a third gen....the standard brakes won a few tests I believe. my question is...does anyone make a larger brake disc (obviously with an adapter for the caliper) with without a new caliper? IE larger disc with the same caliper (just mounted outwards a little).
I have a set of hawk pads (that rock) but I am just affraid the discs cannot take the heat from track racing.....funds are a small issue.
If they don't then can anyone recomend a good Front brake upgrade soon as I have a race with Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes this weekend:P

for the front brakes you will need to get a new caliper if you want larger rotors...I believe for the rear, RacingBrake used to offer a kit which used the stock rear caliper but with a larger rotor (322mm i think??)...

for the front you can upgrade to the rs/rz 99+ model brake/caliper which is 314mm front and rear...

or you can get the Sakebomb Garage AP Racing "track" kit...

If you're running stock BHP, i don,t see a need for a BBK. I have a set of the Stoptech cryo-treated slotted rotors (OEM size) with Hawk DTS-60s front and 30s rear. These pads are awesome on the track, but with a little front bias (they don't make front 30s for the 3rd gen). I don't yet have enough track time on the rotors to make any assessment on the cryo treating. A lot of folks recommend plain OEM rotors. Do not get drilled as they tend to crack.

You can get a later model OEM RX7 Japanese front brakes and buy the later model rear brake caliper bracket to locate the rear brake caliper out.

I found a set of spirit front brakes for cheap (lucky I know) and bought the rear brake brackets off RHDjapan and mated it with the large Project Mu 2 piece rotors.

This keeps the OEM quality, rear parking brake, same stock braking bias, designed for the same brake cylinder size, etc, etc.
