soften it as much as you can for weight transfer. a lot of mustang guys like to remove the front sway bar links during drag racings to help plant the rear too, but i think that's mostly applicable on non-independent rear ends. basically, keep it as soft as you can. might also pick up pettit's launch kit

To be truly correct...

Weight transfer is the same no matter what the spring or shock rates are; even go carts with solid suspensions have weight transfer. Spring and shock rates make no difference at all to the amount of weight transfer.

Shocks can adjust the time over which this transfer takes place though and thus a softer rear shock will give the rear tire footprint more time to absorb the load as opposed to getting instantly "slammed" with it. This will make it easier for the footprint to accept the increase in load and therefore you will be rewarded with more grip at launch.

if you softer the rear so its easier to push down
(within reason) it will allow the car to transfer weight. to much and the car will slam the ass down and bounce up and down.

Cool thanks for the tips folks be very interesting what i can do now, although i dont expect to keep up with the 11 & hopefully now 10 second FD's we now have in the uk http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-033.gif

Just to continue solving my lack of knowledge what's the full story with the "pettit's launch kit" & what kind of price would you look at paying for it state side? OK ignore me asking what they are as i've done a bit of a search (ya see i'm not totally incapable just relatively http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-008.gif) so just after where you can buy them & a ball park figure?
Cheers
Si
