Aragosta Coilover Review

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the lack of pictures on this. I did the install over a year ago now but due to some other issues I'll talk about in my review I haven't posted about them.

First things first. Thank you to purerx7 for these. Great service. I wasn't sure at first since I've heard that there are a newer and older version. The orange/gold with purple springs I received are the older ones but after driving around I'm liking them a lot.

So when I initially installed these I had a clanking/creaking sound coming from the rear of my car. It sounded like it was from the trunk lid due to a small amount of movement and I assumed it was from the body shop not properly lining up the trunk after painting. I didn't drive the car too much and it took a good 6-8 months to get this looked at. Turns out it was the rear sway bar making that noise. One of the bushings was completely missing! After both were replaced it made a huge difference. Prior to this being replaced, I felt like the car would dive or lift just a bit on every bigger bump I hit and the suspension took a split second to catch up. That's totally gone now.

On to what these actually feel like when driving. Let's start with the bad. It's not luxury car smooth when going less than 15-20 mph but who'd expect that? We're driving a sports car :) It's not half bad going through downtown Sacramento where the streets aren't the best and there are railroad/light rail tracks scattered around.

This thing drives great and pretty damn smooth over 25 mph. It's precise and stays planted over undulations in the road, big and small. We don't have the smoothest freeways up here in Northern California. I've been on some longer trips and the car is very comfortable on the freeway.

Settings - 25.5" ride height, full soft (rims are 17" if you're wondering)

Recommend these to anyone looking for a nice ride.

1) Was wondering how do you like your Aragosta after all this time?
2) Do you know their spring rates?
3) Also, any chance you have experienced Ohlins dfv so you can compare them?

Thanks in advance.

Just bumping a year-old thread; I am looking into buying a set and wanted to read some feedback before I bite the (very big) bullet and place an order!!
Are you running the Type S or Type SS? (or maybe they didn't have that much choice back then?)

I noticed that they type S (standard shock) are 10k/8k spring rates, the ohlins DFV are 11k/11k, and the DG-5s are 16/14. I was surprised that the Aragosta Type S were so soft... The Aragosta Type-SS (external reservoir), on the other hand, are custom spring rates between 12k - 20k. That sounded more like it.

Cheers

hey everyone, I believe I have older versions. When I google the s and ss versions I see orange springs. I think those might be the updated ones. You'd have to check with @purerx7 or someone else who is knowledgeable on those. Mine are the same ones as the guy here posted with the purple variable springs: https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-w...rrived-433586/
