Aragosta Broken -__-
 

Hey guys, some how in my journey over seas I have accidentally acquired Ottomans old Aragosta Knightsport coilovers for my fD. One is broke at the end of the shaft, I would really like to replace it with authentic parts, does any one have advice or a lead of any one in America that can help me? All input would greatly be appreciated!

Soooo fortune auto will be replacing this shaft and doing full rebuild on all coil overs. Can not wait!

Where is Fortune Automotive located? I aquired the same coilovers in a part-out several years ago and so far so good but I'm sure they'll need service at some point.

Jack, Fortune Auto is from Richmond, Virginia. I am really only using them because they are local. If i can get a shaft from Aragosta then ill have Fortune rebuild it with Aragosta shaft. But Fortunes shafts are the same diameter as this broken Aragosta one. Really any shock company can use there parts to fix other companies shocks, if the parts are the same size that is. Tein, JIC, AST, Fortune.. etc ( I am sure there are lots more companies in USA that i have not heard of).. there is no reason none of them can't repair any shocks. Normally they don't want to because they would just rather sell you a set of theres new. But don't give in if you don't want to and just have yours fixed. In my case Fortune told me $200 to rebuild that shock with a new of there shaft (that is if no other problems are found) They then suggest that i replace the other coil over shaft so they match. Then the other shocks that just need a basic rebuild will cost me $100 a pop unless problems are found. So $600 to have all rebuilt to is way cheaper than the brand new $2800 Aragosta KnightSpot coil overs haha. I also have a friend that works at Fortune they will also be testing the springs to tell me what rate they are. I am considering having the springs coated a new color while apart they have minimal oxidation. I am giving my self to Jan 1 2014, if i do not hear back from Aragosta by then, then these are going to Fortune. I will keep you guys up to date. Attachment 517467

Ok after 3 weeks of shipping to America, Fortune had pretty much told me that the Aragostas I got are pretty much junk. Which I expected I paid pennies for them, if that. Anyways it started to jar and bully there dyno machine so they shit it down after 9 seconds. Also these shocks take a few special tools which I would imagine they would. When they look at them they also tell me that they are very close to Penske shocks just a little smaller.

At the end they tell me they want to buy them to study them or knock money off a new set of there in house shocks. Initially I was weary it would come to this before I even decided to ship them, because it's easier for them to sell me shocks than rebuild mine. I like to believe they are telling me the truth and not just trying to get a sell on me..... I got about a week to decide what i am going to do.

Try PSI over in Sonoma, CA. I generally think that if they can't fix it, no one can.

As much as I hate to say this I think they just want to get out of rebuilding them. But I am going to take them back in my possession and prolly give some more places a call and see what happens...

Ok so they pulled one of the non damaged shocks apart that they tried to dyno. They found that the inner bumps too had deteriorated from sitting so long, causing the piston to bind up. One of the techs believes he can rebuild them and get em back on the road. They also believe the spring rates are 18k and 20k.... Holy shit

Now I just need a authentic Aragosta shaft..... Any one have a hook up?.... Haha fortune can not mate they're shafts to the Aragosta pistons and the fortune pistons are smaller but they have rebuilt the others shocks

RHDJapan, our local forum Importers, and US based shock companies can not get in touch with Aragosta to get me a Shaft. BUT finally I have a email back from Australia Knightsports location, who has contacted the "head quarters" and just waiting to hear back from them. Fingers are crossed... then ill have to get some street able springs and these babies will be putting 4 corners down again!

Did you try contacting PSI?

I am pretty sure I did, but I called evevry one I could find. I will call them again in case I missed them.

I know most people are like blah we dont care you are trying to save some old busted shocks. BUT I pretty much got these for free, so this is why I am trying to bring them back to life. I figured I would share the process and give input incase any one else has some damaged shocks or anything, in hopes to help in the future.
