AP Racing 6-piston 13.5" Kit
 

Over at the other forum, a Stillen rep has started a GB thread for AP Racing 6-piston 13.5" brake kits. Does anyone have this kit (whether through Stillen or someone else)? If yes, any comments on how it's working?

Everyone I've read about with APs has the 4 piston 13" kit. And based on the front/rear balance threads that I've seen, I wonder if a 6 piston kit would aggravate the balance problem. Seems that you want to factor a custom rear kit into the cost of the project as well.

I am installing my 4 pots on my FD as we speak.

I had 6 pots on my Sierra Cosworth and Audi S4

Nice kits. But I think overkill on the FD as it is a much lighter car.

About the 6-piston group buy price, you can see the info in the other forum under group buys.

I have the 6 piston AP kit for the front and the 4 piston AP kit on the rear. It is on order so I cant comment on performance yet but here is what I know so far. The Piston area is the same for both the 4 and 6 piston kit. Both have 50.0 sq.cm. of piston area. So the force is the same give the same master cylinders. Pad area is larger on the 6 piton kit and i went with 14 inch rotors on the front vs. 13 on the rear for more swept area and better balance. Actualy 13 in the rear is too big for this application but it was all i had to work with. 12 to 12.5 is a better option given both calipers have the same piston area. the I have used twin AP masters with a AP balance bar. I hope to post pics soon but if you go towww.dougrippie.com you can se the same kit made for the C5 corvette.

Great price for the 6 pot kit if there are 4 buyers and up with the rear rotors thrown in.

I wonder if the AP kits are shipped with original AP rotors.
AP recently changed their rotor designs.I have the new spec rotors together with the new mounting bolts.

I really dont care who makes the brackets and hats. But I am concern about the rotors as they are much stronger.

Rotors from AP actually cost close to the cost of a caliper. I guess thats why some of the kit builders are using coleman and other sources of rotors.

Damn, that's going to be a nice brake system. So it seems like you are saying that you will get rid of the stock MC and use twin AP masters & balance bar. How are you handling the clutch? And are you keeping your ABS?

I am keeping the clutch master stock but using a tilton resevoir. I will lose the Ebrake also but im not concerned with that. Hopefully il have a full test report soon.
