Anyone have these Mazdatrix FD sway bar mounts?

Is anyone using these "competition" sway bar mounts?

http://www.mazdatrix.com/h93-95b.htm (PN: 04-7304-0000)

They are reasonably priced compared to most... I just want to make sure they quality (have a RB sway bar, plan on road racing one of these days). So if you have them, let me know how you like them.

Thanks,
Matt

They are pretty good. Those are the Mazda Competition sway bar mounts. The choices are those or the Widefoot Racing mounts or some Jap market ones.

Thanks, for the price and availability (AWR has them in stock) they look like a great option.

I'm glad you posted this Matt..... does anyone know if they're the same height as the oem mounts?

I'd have to modify them to work with my Blitz FMIC, which has plates for the radiator placement that bolt to the bottom.

I'm worried about my oem ones cracking with my new Tanabe front bar, and can't use the supernow/FEED/widefoot mounts b/c they're ~1 inch shorter in height.

gracer7-rx7 03-17-10 10:10 PM

I'm pretty sure they are the same height and geometry as OE. No personal experience though.

I think they are the same as OEM as well, I just ordered a set from AWR ($175) so I'll let you know when I get them.

sway bar mounts

I have them. Good quality and same basic dimensions as stock. I had the stock mounts crack, even with the RB sway bar mount brace.

Thanks for the info, just ordered mine. I thought the RB brace would be enough.

Mine are coming in early this coming week, can't wait to install them so that I can zip through the Dragon with no worries :)

Just got these today, they look pretty indestructable. Definitely a different beast than stock FD mounts. It's hard to get good pics because of the black paint, but the steel and welds are very good quality.

GoodfellaFD3S 03-24-10 10:43 PM

Yup, same here Matt :)

They're very well made and compare to the oem mounts the way Pee Wee Herman looks next to Bill Kazmaier

^ Same here, got mine today. What a difference.

Another option if you are running the stock mounts is getting a RB sway bar brace.

prrex4ever 03-25-10 09:35 PM

Even with the RB front brace the stock mounts can crack/bend with upgraded sway bars and enough hard usage. That's why I ended up getting both.

I've had these on for a couple of years now, no problems what so ever. As already stated, the fit and finish is excellent.

GoodfellaFD3S 06-24-10 09:48 PM

Here's a link for those interested, mine did indeed end up working with the Blitz FMIC and radiator mount brackets. Just had to bend the existing rad-mount brackets back out of the way a little.

Guys, that old link is bad so here is a new one that works: http://store.awrracing.com/products/...-RX%252d7.html

I dont mean to dig up an old thread.. but I need to purchase a set of sway bar mounts shortly. Can someone explain what the advantage of moving the mounts up ~1" as most of the aftermarket ones do?

It helps keep the tie rods from hitting the sway bar on a lowered car.

That's one of the reasons for raising my car up about 3/8 inch.

My FD is used mostly for autox - YMMV.

I may have mis-remembered that. A couple years ago I had an issue with the sway bars hitting the tie rods. Part of the reason was that the sway bar mounts were shorter than stock, making it more likely the tie rods would whack the sway bar arms.

I just took a look under the car to confirm that. My FD has Widefoot sway bar mounts, and without the spacers used to get the bar down to the same location as the stock mounts, you may get some nasty surprises when going over a bump.

Sorry for the confusion, it's been a few longs weeks so far this year.

This was a great post and some awesome feedback as well. I just put my order in for these mounts at AWR also just by reading this one thread!

I'm running these with APEX coilovers and Improved Racing sway bar links, no issues at all.
