I caveat everything with: "If you run aftermarket wheels on a lowered FD, you should roll the fenders"... and I have...

I lunched fender lips with 245/40/17's on 17x8" +45's and Koni/Eibachs, so if THAT will do it, ANY combo will.

Other than that, no mods needed. The car is lowered to 25" at the fender lip. I tracked these once or twice, but they are my street wheels. They're 255/35/18 on a 18x9 +42, and are paired w/ a 275/35/18 on a 18x10 +42.

My track setup is 18x10 +50 w/ 285/30/18 all around:

I would go that route over 19s any day of the week.

No, I'd rather have a shitbox S13 with a crappy body kit, some mirrors I dug out of the garbage can and bolted on with wood screws, and the tires all folded in because I think I'm a mad DORRRRRIFTO driver...

Yes, you are 150% right, and while i didn't make myself clear, what I meant to convey was that even though JGTC cars only run 18s, their sidewall is still rather large, making it necessary to radius out the wheel opening.

Wheel sizes in racing is usually only to limit brake size, like you mention.

And F1 cars run 13s, actually. but this is as far removed from a street car as you can get. Most of their low speed suspension damping is from the tyres, and they run between 17-21 psi in those things, too. So it's not a direct correlation with what we are dealing with. JGTC/Touring cars are much more closely related to streetcars, though (albeit minimal).

Hm. Shitbox S13? meaning you thought my setup was ****, or 240s in general? Cause that shitbox has a 350+ rwhp S14 SR, t3t04e, sponsored by Fullrace manifolds, "crappy" Origin aero, and built, thrashed, and rebuilt since 2002. Don't give me that crap.

And my FC I have now is probably just as "shitbox" to you b/c it's not sitting on a show room carpet and actually getting drifted. Actually, the thread is locked, but its got pics in it. And if you can show me pictures of you sittin' on 19s rocking some 3 wheel dirt drop at a race track, I will gladly shut my mouth. Till then, get a life and let me build cars that actually get driven.

I don't see why you're getting all worked up when you were the one who instigated this whole thing.

Read some of Jimlab's thread. The one with something like 300 pages. You'll never talk smack about his car again- and if you do, you're either jealous or ignorant.

If there's a guy on this forum who knows how to put money into a car, it is Jim, and the fact that you come on here acting like an ******* because you drift is a perfect example of the car scene dipping downward big time.

Different people enjoy different aspects of their car. Pull the stick out of your ***.

Sorry for threadjacking, original poster.

I've never encountered this anywhere. If i don't do everything the same as someone else, it's "wrong". Eff that, especially since i'm not a 16 y/o fan boy, I ******* DRIVE!!!!!

Uhhh, respect is easily earned by being a respectable person. From what I've seen, the only people who complain about being treated poorly as a new member are the ones who do dumb **** like what you did.

Look at your first post in this thread, don't act like a victim. If anyone was "bashing" it was you- you merely encountered an opposition to your idiocy.

And everyone who has a license and a car "drives," buddy.

Well, congratulations. You have my commendation for stopping a guy from buying 19s by posting those ridiculous pictures.

Both. Your car looks like ***.

No, it's a shitbox because it's an FC.

And if you can show me pictures of you sittin' on 19s rocking some 3 wheel dirt drop at a race track
Christ, why would I want to?!?

I will gladly shut my mouth.
Doesn't matter. You're just another know-it-all punk in a sea of know-it-all punks, and your opinion doesn't mean ****.

I guess thats why they hold 'competitions', with winners and such....

Dorifto_PG just posted in this thread with an opinion of "19's are too big". he didn't say anything about it, or talk ****, but for simply posting his opinion (without making up bullshit about it being unsafe or dangerous or whatever like you guys do), you guys bash him for his opinion on something else... ? wtf?
THEN the argument starts.

So does figure skating, which uses the same method of determining a winner as drifting. Subjective judging, not an absolute like crossing a finish line first.

Yeah, because posting a ridiculous charicature of a jacked up vehicle wasn't "talking ****".

Jim's car is only an inch or so too high up front...now how much do you think the car will drop when you drop a 500-lb drivetrain back in? His coilovers aren't adjusted either.

"If i don't do everything the same as someone else, it's "wrong".

THis is the part I slightly worry about on this forum as well. I have two feelings on this tough. A lot fo the older members here lIke JIm lab (One of the best guys to ask a suspension question) , Goodfella, Rynberg (BNR poster boys), Cewrx7r1 (God knows where the PFC thread would be without his help), Damian, and so on have a lot extremely good and down right effective advice almost 99.9% Just those guys alone on this thread have provided sooo much amazing advice and help over the years I have been building my car. But at the same time I think at times they can be a little too harsh on some people with their opinions. Like of its not a performance part and just some kind of little dress up thing people ask opinions about it seems to get flamed hella hard becasue some of the guys on here are pretty hardcore FD fanatics. I'm not gunan deny, in the past 3 years I have been quickly converted to all performance and no rice diet as well, but again I can't help remeber some of the flaminsg go on for tryin soemthign a little diffrnet and icey as if the car was some holy ****** grail. They flame it like if the guy does it to his car, it'll magically ruin his car as well overnight some how. I'm not gunna deny that 19s seem too big on the car I personally think 18s are pushing it on FDs...at least up front...

Thoughts on drifitng...yes it is like figure skating, but like figure skating it does take experience and skill to do it like the pros do it or am I worng?

As far as the pic is concerned of the SMART car jacked up liek that, coem on that was some funny lookign **** admit it...a SMART monster...Maybe you have to see a real smart car in person to find the humor in it?

Oh and BTW....GOD THOSe BBSes are hot, just hot...always torn between those or black CE-28ns.

But I VEHEMENTLY reject the notion that I'm a BNR poster boy. Far ******* from it. I'm nobody's poster boy, that's for damn sure. If you look back, you will see posts where I've even spoken against BNR in the past. I'm still not 100% satisfied with my set of BNRs but Bryan is working with me to fix the issues. I just don't feel like spilling my drama on the forum on a regular basis, unlike some.

Wow wow wow, I ment it as a nice thing...I didnt think you would take it soo poorly I thought you would actuall take it as a compliment (if you didnt notice hwo I gave evryone else props?) I apologize if it came off the wrong way. I ment that you are the guys that are constantly posting good info on the BNR systems. Nothing more.

you're saying a figure skating competition can't be a competition either? since when does something have to be a 'race' to be a competition?

no, it wasn't. posting a rediculous charicature I would consider more of a joke, obviously showing that he thinks 19's are too big, but without the ******* comments like "you ruined that car by putting those ugly 19's on it", etc...

well that thing sits up really high then. I dunno how much the car will drop, but I doubt 5 inches (which is about what it looks like it needs to be dropped, or more). my car only raised up like 1 inch or so, with no drivetrain (when it still had the stock suspension).

Here's an FD at proper ride height...

And here's mine...

Rynberg is right; it has no engine, no transmission, and the coilovers haven't been touched. My drivetrain will add roughly 570 lbs. to the car, which will compress the front springs (550 lbs./in.) about an inch. Adjusting the coilovers will take care of the rest.

I suppose you're one of the idiots who thinks a car handles better if you've got a ton of negative camber and the tires are scraping the fender liners...

Do you have any pics of your car from the side, like the silve FD with 18s?
