Any word about this new Fuzion tire?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

looks like a new 'ecsta supra' class tire. any word?

Black91n/a 03-11-04 10:25 PM

I beleive they just released that tire over the winter, so not many people would have even heard of the brand name yet. Personally, I'd let someone else find out if they're any good or not. It's not worth risking having crappy tires because they're cheap.

I know nothing about it but they speak of Uni-T in the specs. Isn't that a Firestone word?

dis1 03-12-04 11:10 AM

Isn't google great?

I'm against anything that uses a Z instead of an S in the spelling.

flubyux2 03-12-04 02:45 PM

Bridgestone is a pretty high quality tire company...at least their tires dont cause SUV's to rollover... they just keep Subaru Imprezas and WRXs from getting grip... shitty ass RE92s....

hopefully these are of a decent compound and stick ok w/ good tread life.

nevermind, i take that back. i just saw that its a joint venture with firestone :(

Bridgestone is the parent company of Firestone.

...and it wasn't Firestone's fault with the Explorer. Ford recommended inflation pressures lower than what Firestone stipulated and this overheated the tire.

flubyux2 03-12-04 04:08 PM

oh, so it was FORD'S call to set the recommended tire pressure at 24psi or whatever???

then i guess i dont have anything against firestone then. i havent found anything wrong w/ Bridgestones for street use yet... except the RE92's.

Anyways back to the Fuzion. I just saw in a tire rack ad that they have 245/245/16s for just $80. Who is going to be the first to try them on an FD. I don't want to be the guinee pig. Can they be worth it at $68 less than the Yoko AVS ES 100s (probably what I will buy)?

dis1 04-09-04 11:04 AM

I'd try them over the Yoks. I'm not too happy with mine.

POM HB 04-09-04 11:22 AM

I really dont' ahve that good feel for Yoko. I think their street tires are overrated. They made their name a long time ago and the performance has now been passed be 'less expensive' brand.

I don't see much of a reason to get this tire, but its too early to tell. When I went to http://www.thefuzionzone.com/ and took a look, it looks like this is squarely aimed at the F&F crowd. They are going after that market niche. The tread pattern doesn't look as good for the wet as the Pole Positions.

We won't know until we have more data.

austinsFD 05-24-04 03:47 AM

and i ordered them for $500 so i'll give you guys a review on a new post when i get them

OC_ 05-28-04 08:38 PM

yeah.. cant wait for that review! What kinda driving do you do? Do you autoX or anything? Thanks for taking the risk for all of us.

I was on tire rack and someone wrote a review... sounds good!

"I was one of the first to try the Fuzion ZRi and Im glad I did! I tried them first in the rain around town and they stuck to the road well. Next up was dry highway, they performed very well for a tire that is well under $100, much better than Kuhmos or other tires at a similar price point After a week I got to really put them to the test, 2 days at lime Rock Park! Day 1 was wet and cold but I was passing everything in my run group, the wet traction is amazing (at any price), I was driving the dry line while others had traction issues on the wet line. Day 2 was still cold but it was dry, I had no problems hanging with cars that I didnt think I could run with. I was able to get a nice steady squeal through the turns and there was plenty of warning when the tires limit was near. There was no sign of chunking or other unusual wear after 2 days on the track, a good solid tire that performs well, at a good price. I think theyre almost equal to the Bridgestone Potenza RE-730s that they replaced."
