Any disadvantages to using speed bleeders?
 

I'm just wondering what you all think about speedbleeders. I'm thinking about getting some, but am wondering if anybody has had any issues with them. I mean if they were so good, why don't cars come stock with them?

I've used them for years for frequent flush/bleeds with track use... I honestly don't know how people get along with out them, what a PITA.

Then people might not actually take their cars to the dealers for work, which is more money for dealers. ;)

There are no problems with them. I've had them on my FD for about 8 years.

its the first thing i tell all of my idiot friends to buy for their cars. a true gift from heaven for such a low low price!! i use speed bleeders on the brakes and my clutch.
i built a remote clutch bleeder, mounted right next to the reservoir :)

words of warning:
- buy russell bleeders (or similar design). ive seen two styles of bleeders, and only one works.
- dont over tighten!! hand tight with a very small wrench..

One of the first things any new car of mine gets is speed bleeders.

It makes so much difference in bleeding the breaks you will wonder how you did without them.

Apparently the stuff that seals the bleed screw can dry out over time and several bleeds, but I have never had the problem.

I bought a jar of the sealant, and it dried up, but the speed bleeders on my FD are still working fine.

I have used them for years.

Just be sure to keep the rubber cap on them. This keeps dirt out of the check valve.

They kick ass...

Only place I found an issue was with a remote clutch bleeder. Speed bleeders rely on the threads to hold a seal when in the loosened state. When I'd loosen the fitting at the end of the remote bleeder it had another path to the outside world so the check valve was useless.

Works great for brakes and normal applications though.

They work well, just keep them clean.

i have a russell bleeder on my clutch, and it doesnt leak out the side or whatever. i think the antisieze on there is keeping it in. maybe the female end is too shallow?

Are the speed bleeders from speedbleeders.com any good?

I just bought the russell ones. Found them for 25 shipped, cheaper then speed bleeders

I have bled my brakes by myself before without them.

It's gay and took me 2 hours AT LEAST.

does any knows the size of the bleeder for rx7 fd front and 1985 gsl-se rear thank you
