Second, not all Advan's are multi-piece:

That pic is of the Super Advan SA-3R Racing.
Note the "R" at the end of the model number.
Those who know this shit know the difference between the older *SA-3* and the newer SA-3R.
In fact, the SA-3R comes in Gen I and Gen II flavors; there's even a really similar RA3-DT model out there.

The SA-3 is in fact a true 2-piece rim.
I got to take a set apart, so the centers can be unbolted from the rim outer.

Jokes aside, you need to get your facts straight before posting...

The Super Advan SA-3R's in the pic you posted is a 2-piece rim that's welded together.
It's not a true "1-piece" rim by definition.

Oh ok...I gotcha now. I didn't know that ones model, I thought you were referring to the originally pic'ed advan for some reason...I just did an image search and grabbed the first one that looked like a one-piece. I suppose that is a rather harsh seam for a 1-piece rim.

Bump for oldschool rims (I love those rims J rat).

<-- My cheepass RSL Ikari's I got 'em clearance $50 a piece shipped. They were white, and I painted them red. It matches all of my cars in GT3&4 (It's stupid, I know, but it makes me happy.) Sorry, don't have any other pic's of them here at work.

Wow, some nice wheels in this thread. J-Rat's Advan's, the Work Equip, dayum. J-Rat, what are the size/offset of your SA-3's?

vhold 09-26-05 01:07 PM

After looking through this thread, I have made up my mind on the FNO1R-Cs, in RETed's recommended fitments from the FC wheel fitment thread. The only decision now is Silver or Hyper Black? The Hyper Black looks like it would look nice on my AE.

naw, sorry, didn't have enough room to get the whole car, but there are angle pics on this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/wooo-just-got-my-new-bbs-installed-461830/

Their 17x8, 17x8.5 in the back, and offset is 50.

thats weird how with the first rims it looks pretty old school, but in the second picture it looks really modern. Maybe its lighting/angle, or i could be just stupid but i think its pretty cool. nice car! *cough* externally*cough* ( ;) )

vhold 09-26-05 02:24 PM

Read his captions again, the first one is of the Volk's, the second is of the FN01R-C's.

They look different because they're different wheels.

And they make me want the 5Zigens even more...

No.
All the SA-3's I've seen are narrower than 8".
I would rather run 8" wide front and 9' wide rear.
I do have a set of VS-6's coming in though, as we speak. :D

I want a set of Advan Gen II's. Better yet, I want Vipers old white motegi rims he was telling me about. Though, it was a good thing I didn't buy them since my car pooped on me recently. But I still want them, yet, I'll just save up for the Gen II's.
