99 j-spec rims
 

ok im a newbie here at rxtclub.com, so if this has been asked or answered before dont flame me too much. i am very active member at www.mx6.com . im wanting a set of 17" rims but i stil want the mazda logo. ive called a few local mazda dealerships, but to no avail, they have nothing. i asked about the rims at mx6.com and i was told that there is a 99' jspec rim for the rx7. i have a 94' mx6. could someone point me in the right direction, what site, places do i need to check out about ordering these rims. and will they even fit? thanks for your time.

I believe the stock offset for the Mx-6 was +40mm. The FD wheels are +50mm. This will push the centerline of the wheels 10 mm into the car.

I'm not sure how wide the stock MX-6 wheels are but I could foresee a width problem with the 8 and 8.5 inch FD wheels. The wheel might not clear some of the brake/suspension parts.

I don't know how universal center cap sizing is but you may be able to just stick Mazda centercaps on whatever wheels you select. You might have to do some paint matching though.

ok yeah, now i remeber hearing about that. i was told spacers would work that out just fine. ive also seen an mx6 with 17"x8.0" and he said that he didnt have any problem with the wheels rubbing anything. ill have to talk to him a little more. thanks.

I have US FD rims on my MX-6 and they fit without spacers, it's tight though. BTW, the offset is distance from the center of the rim, so you can only really compair offsets if the rim width is the same. MX-6 rims are 6.5" wide with a -45mm offset and FD rims are 8" wide with a -50 mm offset, this will put the inside edge of the rim ~1" closer to the struts. The 8.5" J-Spec will not fit without spacers. Also the narrowest width tire I could get to fit within the tire specs was 225mm, anything narrower and you'll be outside of the recommended rim size.

so i can get them to fit, with spacers. he lug patterns are the right? obviosly they are if your able to get them on your six.

Brandon696, If the US spec FD rims fit then you can get 4 Jspec front wheels which are 17x8 with 50mm offsets. I would like to get 4 rear Jspec wheels which ar 17x8.5 for my FD but corksport or any other retailer will not seperate them. Lemme know if you want to work something out.

Brandon, what he's trying to say is you need 4 17x8 wheels. He wants 4 17x8.5 wheels. The jspec set for the RX-7 is 17x8f and 17x8.5r, so you each buy a set and swap. Since your friend has already fit 17x8, you can too, although you may need spacers.

Thanks Nathan, But spacers would not be required for the 17x8 setup on the MX6 assuming 95MX6 is correct.

I have US FD rims with bridgestone S-03 225/45R16 rubber and they fit without spacers, but the rear is very close (I can't slip a finger between the strut and the tire). A different tire or even a different aspect could rub, although 5mm spacers would solve that. The front has a lot more room than the rear and shouldn't be an issue.

ok. thanks for the clarrification. but one thing i am in question of, would the rear (or front for that matter) stick out of the wheel wells really far? thanks again

You can buy 4 8.5s, you just have to ask. Cork Sport quoted me 1900 or so for 4 8.5s. I bought 4 used 8.5s from 4JSPEC. He might have the 4 8s...

BTW, I was informed from Jason @ jt-imports that 99 spec rims would only cost $200 if you were to walk into a japanese junkyard and pick them up :) and then cost roughly $300 to ship over. He's as honest as they come, so i wouldn't doubt that very much. The only catch is that there aren't too many wrecked '99 FD's (most swap out the stockers before they total their car)
