949 Racing’s 6ULR 17 x 10's, anyone running them
Is anyone running these? I saw a couple threads about them but don't see anyone running them? Their size is perfect for an FD front and rear, only bad thing is there are very few tire options. Just curious if anyone is running them and has any pictures.

I was just emailing them and they are working on a 18" rims for next year. That would be awesome news for us.

Below are a few wheel and tire options for the 6ULR. I think this is an excellent option for an FD track wheel.
Taken directly from "Maximum Wheel and Tire Width Fitment Guide for the FD": NEW Option 1: 949 Racing’s new 6ULR 949racing.com $280 per wheel 949 racing has just released a 17x10 +52 wheel that is designed to fit the front of the S2000. This is the perfect size for the front of an FD. Not only this, but the wheel is designed to fit large brake kits for the S2000 so I bet that the wheel would fit a Stoptech equipped FD. The problem with this wheel is that it is currently only available in 17 in format. Please refer to the 17 vs. 18 in tire section towards the bottom of the post. The 6ULR is 19 lbs. The 6ULR is $280. This is a very nice alternative to more expensive CCWs or narrower front wheels. There is a problem with this wheel being 17 inches though. The FD needs a 25 in overall diameter tire in the front in order to not rub the fenders. Howard Colman has gone over the benefits of running a 25 in ride high from the ground to the highest point on the fender and you will need a 25 in overall diameter tire to do this safely. There are not many WIDE (over a 255 width) 25 in overall diameter 17 inch tires. Here are a few options: 1. Run a 6ULR 17x10 + 52 front with any 255/40 17. There are MANY options here. 2. Run a 295/35 17. This is a VERY rare tire size. For an autox car you can run the Hoosier A6. For a track car you can run a Hoosier R6. For a street car you can run the Kumho XS (I am so glad these are being made!). If you decide to run a 295/35 17 be wary of your fenders. This is a very wide tire for the front of your car. For example the Kumho XS is 11.9 inches wide in 295/35 17 form. The Kumho XS in 255/40 17 is 10.2 in wide. 3. Run a staggered tire package with 255/40 front and 275/40 rear (this rear tire diameter will change your gearing significantly). |

Um, you guys realize they have a 17" x 9" +48 right? That would be perfect for the front of the FD with 255/40/17 tires.

I had Emilio at 949 send me the wheel templates for the 17x10 +52 offset wheels. Tried them out with my Stoptech templates and it doesn't look like it will work. The inner diameter of the wheel seems to be about 2-3mm too small and would scrape the caliper. The S2k 328mm Stoptech kit must just barely clear. I'm going to check with Emilio tomorrow and make sure I lined the templates up correctly just to be sure. I would really like to pick up a set of these, but not if they won't clear my Stoptech kit.

I have a friend that just purchase these.. 17x10 with 275-45-17 right around and they worked..
Ill have him take pics and up load them for you guys. I was skeptical too but they fit, they rub a little on the front guard when at full lock but thats it. He drove fine and was flush with the car. |
^^^I'm sure he's running 275/40s, the size you mention would yield monster truck overall diameter ;)
Btw, what are the advantages to these over RPF1s? They look similar, similar price point. |
The advantage was hoping these would fit over a big brake kit. I already have my 18x9.5 RPF1's for the track, and at one point I had 3 sets of them so I'm pretty sick of the RPF1's. I just want a nice wide 17 inch wheel that will fit over my Stoptechs. The 17x9 RPF1's don't, I already tested those when I owned them. For me these would be for the street and I'd just run them with a 255. If I wanted another set of 18's I'd just order up some CCW's.
Looking at the Racing Brake BBK diagram, guys with those may be lucky, centerline to caliper is 7.4in compared to the 7.44in of the S2k Stoptech kit which fits. |
I have the Racing Brake BBK with the shallow offset option, and they fit my 18x9.5 RPF1 track wheels with room to spare. They (barely) fit behind my Fikse FM5 street wheels...... Stoptechs would not fit at all with the Fikses, there was an 'overlap' of approx 2mm.

Ya, those Racing Brake calipers are definitely smaller than my Stoptechs. I worked with Emilio today on the templates and it looks like the Stoptechs actually will fit. Only issue is the colors that I want probably won't be in till the next shipment in February :(

Hey Guys,
Yes, it's 275/40/17 on both front and rear with the 17x10 with 52 offset. I had already rolled the fenders, but I don't think I even needed to do that. I have not yet put the front end back on the car since installing my fmic, radiator, and wheels, but the only rubbing I have noticed is a little bit on the fender liner. I'm expecting this to stop once I install the front bumper and the fender liner is pulled forward. I can only tell that it's rubbing due to dirt being wiped off because its so minimal. Will post photos later once I have a chance to snap a few photos. There is also an autocross/road race thread that people have discussed this wheel as well. Will find it and post a link when I post the photos. |

wickedrx7, I checked with some of his dealers and they were all out. Emilio does have some sets of the bronze 17x10 +52 available on the 949racing site. That just wasn't the color I'm looking to go with right now.

OK, one last update before I upload the photos from my phone...
Rear tires clear fine, front tires... well, I rolled the fenders this morning just in case the shocks bottom out (aftermarket soft stuff) and ended up shifting the fender liners so now they rub when I turn in some areas. During this smart operation, I noticed that, at full lock, the wheels touch the bottom perch of the same annoying shocks n springs. They are an old set of Apexi coilovers that are only damping adjustable. I can post pix of em if you guys want. They are blue and look like they came from Japan with the car several years ago. The shock bodies have started to rust :( At the end of it all, I can't blame the wheels for poor fitment as it all is on the fat spring perch's fault. If we don't get drowned in the local crappy tropical weather, I will autocross it tomorrow night and post an update. Oh yeah, will measure fender heights later today too. |
