245/50/16 Will these fit also?

well i know people have been saying that the ideal tire size for the stock rim for an fd is 245/45/16 but will a 245/50/16 work also?

KhanArtisT 05-19-08 06:50 PM

I don't see why not its a little bit bigger sidewall I doubt it would have any clearance issues, I'm just guessing though.

BOOSTALMIGHTY7 05-19-08 07:36 PM

i was searching for the 245/45/16's and they had very little options but i found some bridge stones in 245/50/16 that were real good

It'll really depend on the ride height and offset as to whether or not they'll cause problems that a 245/45/16 wouldn't.

BOOSTALMIGHTY7 05-20-08 01:28 PM

well its stock height and stock rims so its stock offsets

Mahjik 05-20-08 02:29 PM

I don't think you'll have any problems, but I would still recommend getting a tire in the proper size. What tires are you looking at?

BOOSTALMIGHTY7 05-20-08 04:21 PM

i was thinking either the goodyear Eagle f1-d3 or the bridgeston potenza re960as pole positions? its a pretty hard decision. trying to hurry and decide today though gotta hurry up and put them on and then off to get my car tuned at rotorsports

That Bridgestone tire is an All Weather tire. You don't plan to drive the car in the snow do you?

Why don't you check out the Toyo Proxes T1R's at EdgeRacing.com as they have the proper 245/45/16 size.

BOOSTALMIGHTY7 05-20-08 05:43 PM

i just wanted something with maximum grip thats a all weather tire

Black91n/a 05-20-08 06:06 PM

All season tires are really no season tires. They're a jack of all trades, master of none type tire, besides, it never actually snows or freezes down there does it? In that case a good summer tire will outperform an all season in all conditions, including in the wet, depending on the tire. Something like a T1R will be very good in the wet.

i just researched about the eagle f1's and the toyo t1r's and i think imma buy the t1r's seems like some good tires. hopefully it will catch traction wit 500 hp turning them

While some have run a 245/50 in back, it would be pretty tall up front and may result in clearance issues. It will also raise your final drive ratio, reducing acceleration.

And please don't run an all-season tire...ick. :)

tthey will look like truck tires. dont get them. i have 245 45s on my fd and i wish i never even got those. forget about 50s.

Based on all my research, the Eagle F1 GS-D3 is a superior tire to the Toyo T1-R.
