245/50/16 on stock FD wheels?

I was wondering if a 245/50/16 would fit on the back stock wheels of my fd without affecting the handling or performance of the car? I found a good deal in some nitto 450's and want to know if i should jump on them. Thanks for any input in advance.

What are you using the car for? of course they will fit, but the handling would be compromised since the tires will bulge outward. If you are drag racing the car then this will work out ok.

I use it mostly for spirited/track driving. Im not big on drag racing my car. I just want some decent grip in the bends.

245 on a 8 inch wide wheel shouldnt be much of a problem at all. You might lose some response due to the meatier sidewalls but not enough to be too concerned about.

Don't most run 245/45/16 on the stock wheels

245/45/16 would be the proper up-size.

I had 245/45-16 on one of my FDs on all corners on stock rims. There isn't much differece on the sidewall sticking out. 245/50-16 might look like a ballon though.

Just FYI, a 245/50/16 will have a larger overall diameter by about 3%. This will effect the accuracy of your speedometer.

I run that size on my FD. Back fits fine. Front has a slight rub at the front of the fender liners, just a little slit 3" long and .25" wide about 4" up and half way across the front part of the liners.
The tires are Falken 512. The ride softened and MPG improved slightly. Grip, both lateral and accel improved, braking improved. Nimbleness lost a bit.
If I could have found 245/45-16 I would have bought them instead.

^ sorry for going of topic, but what exhaust are you using squalor?

OBX cat-back from a Ebay store. It was around $220.00, not bad for 3.5" stainless steel. Well, most of it is 3.5" but it necks down to 2.75" to hook up to the factory midpipe.
Back to the OP's question, has anyone ever seen a 255/40-16 tire ? Also, how good of a deal on the Nitto 450 if I may ask ?
