225/45's on my FC?
 

Hey everyone...

Can i squeeze a set of 225/45's on 17x7.5" rims (43mm offset) under my 1990 N/A?

I was thinking of using Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's (apparently some tires have different sectional width, etc.?)

You should be able to do it in the back, but the fronts may rub the springs.

I agree. you will probably rub up front. If you have coilovers you may be able to squeeze it. I've got 225's on 6" rims(I know, that is way to thin for 225's) and I have about an inch between the inside of the tire and the spring, and thats with GC Coilovers.

Im running 225/50r16 up front with out a problem but there is bearly any clearance so the 45 might be too tight. See if the tire shop will test fit them for you. I knwo the guys at discount tire here tested mine just so we knew. But they might have done it cause one of the guys there has a mica blue vert. But I love my Kuhmo's in the rain, they shead the water great.

Pualc if your running 225/50 in front how can you say 225/45 might be to tight as the 45 has a lower profile than the 50 does.

Right now Im running 225/50/16 in front with ground control coil overs and caster/camber plates and I have the car droped about 1.5 inchs in the front.

im going to changing to a 235/40/17 in Jan

To answer this question, a 43 mm offset wheel with tire might rub period. That wheel will be spaced quite a bit inside the fender. What kind of rims are they.

That offset is not recommended for good fitment on the FC. On the FC a 7.5 with a 30 - 35 would fit nice under the fender. You're way off of that and therefore might rub with the tire on there. You just gotta try it, but it will look funny no matter what, especially in the rear.
