195/50/16's too small for my FC
I just bought some a coulpe days ago becasue I bent my rims and my tires were bad, so I went to a place like RENT a TIRE I know what your about to say but wait, these rims were repoed so I got them for $400 with tires, I anit got much money left you know it's christmas and all, but would any body you be willing to trade + cash? there bad *** rims don't get me wrong but there only 195/50/16 yeah I got bicycle tires on but the price was right and I needed new rims and tires, and I want at least 205's, I don't know but you guys thnk my setup is good now or should I strive for wider tires??
If your strapped for cash, then they will work for now, but I personally wouldn't go any more narrow than 205's. I prefer 225's, thats whats on my FC. I have 225/50/15 Yokohama AVS Intermediates and the grip is incredible over the 205's I had before.

I would go with 225/50r16 up front and pull the heat shields for the mufflers and 245/50's out back. I will bet you that they sold you stock spaced rims with stock widths. Usually places like that wont sell you somthing with a wrong offset for liability reasons. Ive also got the Kuhmo 712's that Im happy with. Also the Yoko DB's are cheaper than the AVS Intermediates and grip much better in the wet and almost dead equal on dry pavement.
it all depends on the rim width, i have some 205 on my 15 x 6.5 rims and some 205 on my 16x8 rims, on the 8 inch wide rims a 205 puts a LOT of rubber to the road, on a 6.5inch rim, it doesn't as much rubber to the road, personally i think its about finding the right tyre width to rim width combo
i personally dont think anything over 235's should be put on 8 inch wide rims.

The man before me is correct. The biggest you want to go on that is a 205/55/16, no QUESTIONS ASKED. Don't listen to anyone else.
It completely depends on the width of the wheel. I would like you to pull a wheel off or tell me what it is from so I can get the offset.
You can get it by looking at the back of it. Otherwise you might rub when you put a bigger tire on, on the inside.
Do the tire calculations and see how undersized you are, the diameter of the 195/50 is ridiculous, you will get shitty gas mileage and lower your top speed.

I'd like to see you mount a 245 on a 6" wheel and measure it's performance. 225's should be mimimum on a 7" wheel. That's just from my minimal experience.

Yes, its not all about tire width. My base model '70 Honda ran 145mm tires on 10"x3.5" wide steel rim. My '72 Honda GT runs 145mm too, but on 10"x6" mag wheel. It makes a HUGE difference even w/ those skinny tires; beter contact patch and actually reduces sidewall and associated flex!
