19 back 18 front????

I was just wondering if you can put 19 inch rims on the back and 18 inch in the front for an FD. Because I going to buy some rims and I think it would look cool, but if it rubs against the wheel well I'll pass.

Endless Work 07-31-04 10:37 PM

You can do this. You'll be better off doing that rather than 19's up front also. Obviously this won't be very functional for handling purposes or speed. However it will give you the bling. I would recommend an 18x9 +45 to +50 and 19x10 +50. Do a 255/35/18 and 275/30/19.

Endless Work 07-31-04 10:38 PM

Most likely will need custom offsets. Refer to the Work Wheel thread above. What style did you have in mind, 5 spoke, mesh, etc... What kind of budget and what is the objective for doing this?

speedx7 07-31-04 10:42 PM

I was saying this because I just ordered an RE-amemiya 2001 GT-widebody and think it would look cool like that and also because the body is wide I don't want the tire's to be inside. But if it keeps me from having good handeling and speed I'll ge 18's all around.

speedx7 07-31-04 10:44 PM

I want to get the Volk SF-Challenge.

Endless Work 07-31-04 10:45 PM

Ahh, then I can definitely be of help for you. This is all I do for the official Endless USA sponsored vehilces. Most are widebodied and i do all custom measurements. You'll definitely want to go 18's all around then.

What widths did you want? Did you order authentic kit? They will be here for JGTC.

Endless Work 07-31-04 10:46 PM

Don't do the Volk thing. So played out and they won't help you much with fitment. We were getting those for a Veilside D1 GT FD we're beginning but decided to cancel once he saw the WORKS. lol. Shameless plug. You have many more options and better support.

speedx7 07-31-04 11:30 PM

Yeah it's the authentic kit. I like Volk but if yours look better I would like to see a picture if it's possible.

SpeedKing 08-01-04 12:38 AM

18s in front and 19s in back because it will "look cool"? Stupid idea.

Endless Work 08-01-04 03:27 AM

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'd much rather build a more functional vehicle too. 18's would most likely be the best balance between form and function. 17's would most likely be your best bet. Depends on what tire sizes are available for your desired widths. How wide did you want to go with this aerokit?

speedx7 08-01-04 06:48 AM

I don't really know how wide exactly it is, I'm guessing like 2-3 in front and it's like 1-2 in the back. I'm just guessing, if anybody knows it would be great.

The new Volk SF-Challenge would really nice.

Isn't it that covette's run 18 in the back and 17 in the front and yet they are one of the best handling cars out there, I'm no expert in handling, but why would it be bad if you go a rim size higher..

Mahjik 08-01-04 11:57 AM

Not the exact sizes, but similar idea:

Because Corvette's engineers designed the suspension that way to take advantage of the car's power yet have it well-balanced for optimum handling. Surely they've spent millions of dollars and countless hours of R&D time trying out different setups for the car to see what worked best. Mazda did the same for the RX-7. And unless you've put in the work and KNOW that 19" wheels out back are superior to 16", 17", or 18" wheels on the street or track, then it would be foolhardy to assume. You don't just throw wheels on blindly and assume that's what best for the car's performance. And BTW, if you re-read the first post, "speedx7" is doing it strictly for looks.

speedx7 08-05-04 12:24 AM

actually I was asking because I assumed it would be better, with handeling easier to control.

SpeedKing 08-05-04 03:28 AM

In that case, take some driving courses and learn how to take your car to its limits. Heavy ass 19" wheels aren't going to do a damn thing for you.
