vosko 10-21-03 10:21 AM

dead sexy!

93 R1 10-21-03 10:30 AM

What offset?

I run 18x9.5 SSR Competitions with 265/35's. Looks great and handles even better

SleepR1 10-21-03 11:40 AM

Those look great, Cossie! I thought you were selling a set? What finish is on the car? They look darker than the standard Titanium Silver finish?

SleepR1 10-21-03 11:43 AM

I wonder when artowar2 will finally post pics of his CE28Ns and V700s??

I'm guessing 47 mm offset?

OC94Rx7 10-21-03 12:36 PM

They look outstanding Cossie! Love the CE's.
Could you show a full photo of your car/wheels when you have a chance?
Thanks
Oliver

I was thinking the samething :D I pm'd him a few months back. He said he had 47mm offset.

Cossie 10-21-03 01:16 PM

yes 47mm

ptrhahn 10-21-03 02:00 PM

Makes me wonder if those 10.5 +47s would fit in back...

These look at least as good on your car as i thought they might on mine, Cossie... i'm sorry now that i didn't buy them!

SleepR1 10-21-03 07:56 PM

Peter, I think the 10.5 wides are 44-mm offset

7racer 10-21-03 08:39 PM

Cossie,

NICE!! Do I see some JIC-FLTA2 peaking out from behind those wheels!!;)

93 R1 10-21-03 09:31 PM

whats the weight on them?

ptrhahn 10-21-03 11:50 PM

Just so happen to have a borowed set of Fikse FM-10s, 17x10, +44 offset on my car right now... its so close, you'd SWEAR it would rub the fender in the rear.... don't think those 10.5's will go....

hi fong...nice to join the rank of ce28n wheel owners LOL :)

artowar 10-22-03 12:54 AM

Looks good Cossie!

I am pretty sure that artowar2 will never post pix of his CE28Ns & V700s.

As for artowar, I don't think I need to post pix now-- my FD is white like Cossie's. After I get my 99 wing and my hood painted and mounted, they'll look like the same car. My wheels may start out with the lighter silver color, but some brake dust will pretty quickly get them to approach the color that Cossie has :)

I did roll my fenders however, so I have no idea whether 9.5x18 with a 47mm offset will result in rubbing problems on stock fenders. I was planning to test fitment with stock fenders, but the elusive Haweka tool somehow wound up in my hands one weekend, and...

Cossie 10-22-03 03:40 AM

haha..My fellow twin to be....

Peter if a 275/40-17 was mounted on the 10 x 17, I can see how the clearance might be a problem. Note the CE28N comes in 18 diameter in 10.5 wide, so you'd need to go with 285/30-18 or 295/30-18 tire sizes. While wider than 275, both are shorter in overall tire diameter than 275/40-17, which could be the difference between rubbing, and NOT rubbing in back with 10.5 x 18s :)

ptrhahn 10-22-03 12:07 PM

I'm talking width. The tire's rim protector bar is actually visible from above, outside the fender... if the wheel travelled straight up (which it obviously doesn't)... it would hit the rim lip... i would think a 295/30, particularly if it had a rim protecter, would hit.... i'd like to see it, if anyones done it.

Yeah, I see. Fikses are exactly 1 inch wider than nominal, so what you see from outside lip to outside lip is 11 inches wide. I'm not sure if the CE28Ns are 1 inch wider than nominal. Even if they are, you're only talking 0.25 inches more on either side, which isn't much. What you're adding is more support for a wider tire to be mounted, ie 285 or 295 section width. As a precaution, I'd roll both fr/rr fender lips upward--assuming you run a max width setup, like 9.5/10.5 x 18 fr/rr with 265/35-18 fr and 295/30-18 rr. Hey Cossie, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Comps come in those steamroller-width sizes :)

ptrhahn 10-23-03 08:21 AM

One of our favorite Volk dealers (not mentioning any names :-)... should order one 10.5" CE28N, mount a Conti 295/30/18 on it, and see if it fits once and for all...

FWIW, the Fikses are 1.125" wider than nominal, rim lip to rim lip. I'm gonna measure everything about them :-)

Cossie:
Sorry for the semi-hijacking of your thread... your car loks great, definately the best CE28 application i've seen on a RX7... kicking myself in the ass for not snapping them up from you!!

I'd be willing to donate my car as the test-fitment car LOL :)

Fikses are 1-1/8 inches wider than nominal? I thought the CCWs were 1-1/8 inch wider than nominal (Max Cooper's measurement of 11-1/8 inches overall width for a 10-inch wide nominal tire bead with)? Based on the fitment chart Fikse used to have on their website, I calculated exactly 1 inch wider than nominal.

Hey Cossie, you could sell your rear 9.5 x 18 CE28Ns to Peter, and you each could buy a set of two 10.5 x 18s and mount 295/30-18s for the rears. Don't forget to fill us on the fitment. My guess is 10.5 x 18, 44-mm offset will work--with rear fender lip rolling and perhaps -1.5 degrees rear wheel camber :)

265/35-18 all around, 9.5 x 18. Color looks custom? Yeah, very nice. I still think 10.5 x 18 with 295/30-18 in back will fit with a little rear fender lip rolling :) Do it, Cossie :)

SleepR1 10-24-03 07:15 AM

Cossie's been spotted!

LOOKS GREAT!

295/30-18s on 10.5 x 18 in back, Cossie. It will fit with some creative use of a baseball bat wrapped with a towel :)

According to the current Ray's website, standard colors are bronze and silver for 17/18 inch. Cossie's appears to be a custom color?

http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/emenu/wheel.html

According to this size table, the 10.5 x 18s are 45-mm offset. The "star" indicates large caliper clearances for Rx7--indeed the 9.5 x 18s, 47-mm offset are the ones to put up front on our FD3S Rx7s.

Check with Wheel Source. They can special order your size from Japan.

If you order from Wheel Source, tell them "Manny" sent you :)

Re: http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/emenu/wheel.html

I'm pretty sure his ad said they were a custom grey color.

Yeah, I realized that when I scrolled back to the top and saw a better shot of Cossie's wheel color.

Hey Cossie:
How'd those Sport Cups behave on track? Are you using them on the street too? Hows that working out?

Cossie 10-29-03 05:22 PM

Inital thoughts on the Sport cups

DO WARM THEM UP....It too me almost 2 laps at laguna seca to fully warm them up...and starrt them up cold...
They are nice for 33-36 hot. Nothing more .....

Once warm, they are great...although I didnt push them much as I am still learning my car...

Harsh and "streamline" like any other R compounds...
grabs everything and anything on the road...

-f

SleepR1 10-29-03 07:41 PM

you mean tramline?

Cossie 10-29-03 07:46 PM

yeah....me no speaka engrish

ek9220ps 10-29-03 10:32 PM

cossie, how much space do you have between you tires and your rear fender..
andrew

ptrhahn 10-30-03 08:32 AM

I've heard they are slick when cold... but could you quallify that? Does "slick" mean "still stickier than a street tire" like it does for other "R"s?

I'll be real curious to hear you impressions of them for street/dail driving too... and in a little rain.

those rims on the white rx7 are hot

pureFD 07-22-05 12:01 AM

Do you have any more room for a +42 offset in the front or a 285 tire? What is your impression of the wheel tire combo compared to other set ups?
