18x8.5 ok with 245/40/18 tires?
Heya. I got a set of 18x8.5 and 18x10 rims. I have searched through other threads and it said that the best sizes for those size rims would be 245/35/18 for the fronts and 285/30/18 for the back. Those are the closest to stock offset is what one of the threads said.
It seems that 245/35/18 tires are rare. I can only find them in dunlops and pirelli's, but there are a lot of 245/40/18's. The 285/30/18's arent a problem and those are easy to find. I was just wondering if I should just go with the 245/35/18's or would I be ok with the 245/40/18's? I have stock struts, but will be using eibach springs. Front rim size is 18x8.5 Thanks. |
Got $50? ;)

For what? :p:

who the f*@#$ knows. There is more mis-information on this site about this topic that I wouldn't even know what to tell you. I researched everything and walked away confused.
FWIW, I recently ordered 235/40 & 275/35 18"s (nitto 555's) on +37, +42's. 245/35's are rare like you said and I am optimistic that they will fit as Loi has the same fittament and his car is lowered much more than mine with ZERO rubbing. (rims are 9"s & 10"s) Best of luck. |

I actually just got them b/c that is what the dealer had in these fittments. My understanding is that they are similar to sp8000's which I have reasonably good experience with + I didn't want to blow a ton of money on tires that I am not 1000% positive I know will fit.
Plus it appears the diameter of the Nitto 555's are slightly lower than the calculators predict.... |
Thanks for the input.
I'm going to go with a mix. Going to get the pirellis in 245/35/18 for the fronts and then get the Bridgestone S03's in 285/30/18 for the backs. |
The 555 can't even compare to the SP8000 he was fibbing you. The 8000 was a leader in it's day. Lower treadwear rating and much stickier than the 555.
I would suggest getting the pirellis for the rear also. rishie |
Get Pirellis all around
