17x9 +38 on an fc?
 

Ok... I found a set of wheels I like but they are 17x9 with a +38 offset all around.

I know these won't fit on a stock fc but how much trouble is it going to be to make them fit? Will a 1 inch spacer up front and a rolled fender or fender flare clear that up no problem? What about out back?

I'll be adding about 1 inch on both the inside and outside of the wheel.

Is this gonna be more of a headache than it's worth?

Rear should be okay on stock fenders. And you've got the right idea for the front fenders as well. Headache? Not a huge deal. But if you're going to spend money on spacers, maybe you should just buy wheels that fit for the front.

yeah I would love to but finding a set of red advan sa3's seems to be a next to impossible task these days.

just buy 15mm bolt-on spacers for the front and you'll be set. roll the front fenders.

rolling the front fenders will trash them (cosmetically).
you can get racecar clearance, but dont expect it to look nice.

I said roll the front fenders. Not pull them. Rolling won't wrinkle or warp the fender is its done correctly. Pulling them will wrinkle it.

oh yah haha. well, expect to run pretty narrow tires with just rolled fenders (215's most likely). no 245's up front. unless you really do wanna pull them... (i went to town with my stockers)

Is there a guide somewhere posted on here for what the max wheel size and tire size combinations for FCs? An offset chart or something? I looking at getting some 17x8 and 17x9 wheels but not sure how they'll fit and what tires to go with em, etc

17x8+35 with 225/45r17 front (offset of +32 to +38 works)
17x9+35 with 255/40r17 rear (offset of +35 to +40 works)

This is assuming you want 100% stock fenders.

how about 16x8.5 +37mm for the front?:scratch:

Well I picked up the wheels today. I test fitted them on the car and took some pics.

As you can see, the backs fit really well and the fronts are able to be bolted on but do rub up against the suspension and stick out a little bit as you can see in the picture. I think a small spacer and perhaps a rolled fender will do the trick. If however it stick out too far I can use these wide body fenders that I picked up as well.

the car looks like a monster truck since the suspension hasn't settled down yet. It should drop about an inch and a half at least.

ide say just run the spacer and throw those fenders on, you have em, why not use em?

put the fender on and see how much clearance you have before you buy spacers. you may decide to space them out further than 15mm to get a more flush look

I'd rather not use the fenders if possible since I don't really feel like having them painted and fitted and all. How much more width can you get out of a fender roll?

I am going to have to use a 20mm spacer according to the guide on fc3spro which will probably have the wheels sitting almost an inch outside of the fender.

roll your car back and forth a couple feet to help it settle a little... Just because a wheel bolts up doesn't mean it actually fits...I am curious how much clearence you have between the spring and inside of the tire? more then likely it will end up rubbing on the 2nd or 3rd coil up if your running OE style springs during normal street driving, in which case you will want to run spacers

As I said, they bolt up but do contact the suspension. I will be adding in a spacer but at least it's not gonna need as large a spacer as i originaly thought.

do you have positive camber in the front? if so if you were able to zero it in then it wouldn't stick out much past the fender

get some negative camber in there...

with a skinny enough tire you can fit a 17x9 up front under stock fenders as long as you have enough negatvie camber, a high enough ride height, stiff enough suspension and have an offset that just barely clears you strut/sping (keep the wheel as far inboard as possible).

looks like you can get away with some 235s or 225s on them up front without much hassle using stock fenders

You have the fenders already; might as well use them =P
