225/45/17 will fit up front. You should be able to get 245's in the rear. 255's MAY rub the trailing arms. I have 275/35/18 on 18x9 with a +30 mm offset in the rear.

ARD T2 08-13-01 03:35 PM

I think the front will rub. My 37mm's rub very slightly. If rolling the fenders you should be fine. The rears should fit fine. I sell 35-38mm 17,9.5's all day long, w/o rubbing. therefore your 9" w/38 should fit beautifully. Should be able to dump it if you want.

See ya, Rishie

so would...225/40 /17 for the front
and 275/40/ 17 in rear or 255/45/17?????

225's should be ok up front. I would go with 245's in the rear because if the 255's wind up rubbing the trailing arms you'll need spacers.

Not all tires are created equal. Don't forget two different tires (different brands, models, or even speed ratings) side by side with the same aspect ratio can be different widths. Try to get the tire dimensions from the manufacturer when you find a tire brand/model that you want.

So 17x9.5's with a 38mm offset fit fine in the rear? Neato

I test fitted some rims one my t2 and 17x8 with a offset of 38 fit great in the front. The back were 17x9 with a 38 offset, the rears had a 255 on them and they were close but not rubbing. My question is what offset would be needed to run a 275 in the back? Would the offset increase or decrease to put the wheel a little more out for wider tires to not rub the arm back there?

ARD T2 08-21-01 07:07 PM

To bring a wheel closer to the fender, you want a lower offset. To push it in more you want a higher/more positive offset.

Good luck, Rishie

SULLY's little brother is running a 255/40 on 17,9.5 w/ 35 mm offset. No rubbing. It's been proven. Oh yeah, on NT555 nittos.

So to run a 17x9 in the rear with a 275 I would need to get something like a offset of 35 or maybe even lower? I really want ot be able to run a 275 in the back, a 255 would be nice, but I really like the looks of the 275's. Thanks for the help. Also are you the guy that can get rims? If so I might have a question for you

I have 275's on 18x9 with a +30mm offset. I have about 1/2" clearance with the trailing arm. So +35mm should work, but it will be tight.

Cool, thanks for the help

Yeah Trinity Rishie AKA ARD T2 is the man to talk too;)
