17x7 rims all aorund - what tires size should i use

17x7 rims all aorund - what tires size should i use

i had these on my mr2 with 205/40/17 and 225/45/17.... i think the sidewall is too thin...what should i upgrade it to

If these are to be going on to your Turbo2, then get wider wheels. 8" in the and 9" in the rear is always sweet. But if you stick with 17's you'll be stuck with the short sidewalls. Get some wide 16" wheels. I did with my FC. I kept the stock sidewall height and increased my contact patch all at the same time.

If you stick with the 17x7, then here are some sizes that'll keep you close to stock tire diameter. 205/50, 205/45, 215/45, 225/45. I would not normally go any wider than 215 on a 7" rim.

I used to run 225/45/17 Azenis in the front, and 245/45/17 Nitto 555's in the rear. They fit fine on my 7" rims with +40. I would get a lil bit of run in the back before i installed my camber link and my toe eliminaters, the tire was rubbing the rear susp. arm slightly, no big deal with the toe eliminaters in.
