17x11 on fd what offset/backspacing ???

Looking to pick up a set of wheels off a supra17x9.5 and 17x11. 17x9.5 is 38 and the 17x11 is around 42 and he also said The front backspacing (17 x 9.5) is about 6.5" and the rear (17 x 11) is about 7".

I dont mind cutting and rolling the rear fenders out (custom kind of like minature wide body) 1/2-3/4 of an inch and buying trailing arms and coilovers, but am not sure if this will fit, this stuff is forgin to me and a search didnt help. 11/2=5.5 5.5-7=1.5 1.5x.25.4=-38 Would that work??? or 12/2=6 6-7=1 1x25=-25 (there is no way that would work) Thanks in advance for the help guys. Mike

I doubt either of those wheels will fit, even with rolled fenders. You are going to need to run fender flares front and rear or do some "cosmetic" surgery.

Those extreme wide fitments would be much easier with 18" wheels. I think it's silly to fuck up your car just to take advantage of a "good deal" on wheels that don't really fit.

Here's a picture of Kevin Whyum running a 17x11 wheel in back. Notice the tweaked trailing arms and fender clearance. I do not know what offset these wheels are.

a 17x9.5, +38 up front isn't going to work. I just bolted up my 17x9.5 +45 track wheels, and with a 275/40 Khumo, its TIGHT. I don't think i'd run it on the street.

Likewise, I rather doubt an 11" +42 would work in back. I have 18x10" +42's, and see the pic for clearance. Gene Felber runs an 18x11 +48... I bet thoose extra mm's are crucial.

Yes, a 48 is absolutely the max, but you HAVE to remove the fender lips. Not roll, remove! Less offset (>51) and you'll hit the tubular trailing arms you need for this install.

You can see from this shot that the rear tire would contact my fender if the tread was as wide as the section width:

I'd recommend a max of 10" in the rear to avoid headaches.

Gene
