16" TII rims with 225/50/16 Tires?

I have a set of 1988 TII rims and want to put on wider tires. Will 225/50/16 tires fit in the rear without any issues? The car is all stock. I am going to keep the stock 205/55/16 on the front. I have a 1990 GXL. Looking at Firehawk Indy 500 or Yokohama Advan Neova
tires.
