*The Life of Coilovers?
I am in the market to buy some coilovers soon. What is the average lifespan of a coilover from street/track use before the shock/strut starts leaking? Being not able to rebuild them really makes a valid point when you're basing a buying decision. i.e. HKS, Apexi N1s

Not sure about the lifespan, but these are worth checking out..
www.advance-design.com I believe M2 may market a version of these for the 3rd gens. |
i think that may depend on the individual dampers. The Penske Technical Manual sez to do the following every 30 hours of track time or annually: change oil, replace the shaft seal o-ring, wiper, shaft bearing o-ring, reservoir cap o-ring, piston o-ring, floating piston quad ring and valve shims.
Hmmmm....what did i get myself into? :( |

The M2/AD are easily rebuildable, you can buy a single corner if damaged, the Eibach ERS springs are readily available for changing spring rates, they come with upper pillow mounts. Do a search, there are a few people on the Forum running this set-up. Not sure how often they require rebuilding or service but the manufacturer (Ground Control) can be contacted easily to find out.
