settings on my safcII

ok i read the instuctions manual but i dont have it in my car yet (i will tomarrow) what are the best settings to get better mpg on a mostly stock 88 n/a

Ballpark, you could pull out 10% below 4000 RPM, 15% above 4000 RPM and not have any problems.

so is lo throttle basically under 4k and hi throttle above 4k?

Syonyk 09-14-05 04:04 PM

Hm? No, you set it to either throttle position (bleh), or manifold pressure (the better way to do it).

It's based on manifold pressure, not RPM. Read the manual, it goes through how it calculates the correction & interpolates & such.

can i do that to my mildly moded 86 gxl, full exhaust, 5th/6th ports removed, cone intake.
ps. arent you supposed to take out less fuel at higher RPMs? because the N/A runs very rich at lower RPMs only.

*shrug* I just used the voltage output off the narrowband to get a feel for where stoich was, and then tuned based off that. BAD to do on a turbo car, but it's fine on a NA.

I have a fairly free flowing exhaust. Mine runs insanely rich up high. I don't know what A/F ratio it's at stock, but I can pull out 30-40% up high and *still* be rich.
