Safc2 sensing knock..?
 

alright i have a question. i installed my SAFC2 and it is reading knock when i dont have my knock sensor even pluged in on the car.. so why would it be readin it and what exactly is knock.?

it's probably just registering interference noise from the electrical system, you have to set the base knock levels for each car(it's in the destruction manual).

well what is knock? like i know stock cars have Knock Box's and stuff.. i never put one in my car.. but i never even knew what knock is.

Knock is basically detonation in the engine. It happens when the engine is really too lean. Instead of combustion which is the burning of the air/fuel u have a explosion, which can damage engine components.

alright thank you.. my SAFC2 reads like 100+ knock. so is this a false reading sence i dont even have the thing connected.?

if you didn't wire it up, yes it is a false reading.

lol did knock just get discovered or something? haha, this is like the 5th knock thread in 2 days.

what is a safe knock reading? I just now installed mine and we wired up the knock reading wire, but what numbers are ok and what are too high?
