Safc 2

I desperatly need some fuel managment and but i also really need a fcd. my mechanic says i wont need an fcd once i get an safc2. is this true? does the safc act as a fcd as well?

also i live in canada, where is the best place to buy an safc? online? what url?

thanks

The SAFC-II does NOT replace a FCD. However, you'll want to wire the SAFC-II in before running the signal through the FCD.

I got my SAFC-II from eBay.

I never had fuel cut when I installed my SAFC.....so I assumed it was overriding whatever the ECU did for Fuel cut.........

No, you just weren't boosting high enough.

the SAFC in no way gets rid of or bypasses the hard wired fuel cut in the ECU. simple solution is to get an Rtek chip(does a lot more than just an FCD for a little more in price) and the SAFC or a HKS Fcon(no need for an Rtek with the Fcon).

I hit 13 psi............and no fuel cut. I have fuel cut( right before 10...I assume it's the 8.5 PSI) in my GTUsT (the same motor and ECU that I had when I hit 13 PSI) weird.

Then there was a FCD in the system somewhere, or some other electronic mod that did the same thing. There is no way to exceed 8.6psi boost without some kind of electronic trickery.

that's where I am lost then....cuz I'm using the same motor/ecu and electronics as my old TII ( crashed and swapped it all into my GTUs) and NOW I have fuel cut...

That pretty much proves there must have been an FCD wired in somewhere, since the ECU is obviously unmodified. It might have been a DIY FDC wired into the harness at the ECU, so you might not have recognised it.

Look up emanage ultimate.

I have seen cases where boost comes on so quickly that even without an fcd, you can surpass fuel cut and continue boosting into the high rpm's, even with boost well above 10psi. I know some may disagree with this possibility and dismiss it as bullshit, but I've seen it several times. You roll into the throttle moderately and the car hits fuel cut, but if you're ripping it up it might buck a little once and keep right on boosting.

On the original topic, an afc has nothing to do with fuel cut, so you'll still need the fcd.

My stock S5 ECU will allow 10 PSI for about 3-4 seconds before fuel cut (with the FCD out).

I first thought the restrictor pill was the reason, but the dash gauge shows the high boost only about 1/2 second after the mechanical gauge.
