help with apexi afc

ok guys i need help. i bought my fc with a apexi afc and i need to know which wires to cut off to turn the afc off. i tried cutting the red and the yellow one but then my car couldnt start anymore. i see that the yellow one is connected directly to the green wire from the ecu, i look to see if i can find the green wire but i couldnt. any help will be helpful. thanks.

one other thing my knock sensor isnt giving me any signal from my afc??? why?? also this is a swap t2 into a n/a and im using the n/a harness. could it be that im using the wrong wire to connect the knock sensor? thanks again for any help.

Apex'i has the installation instructions on their website. I'm pretty sure you need to cut all the wires completely, except the yellow and white wires (yellow and white on the SAFC harness). Splice those two back together and your car should run.

There is no knock sensor connection on the n/a harness, as the n/a does not have a knock sensor or knock control box. The knock sensor would normally be the grey wire on the connector to the knock control box, if you had a knock sensor. It doesn't matter anyway, the stock knock sensor is very noisy on many Rx-7's and isn't a good metric to go by.

thanks arghx, ok i'll see wat i can do. but dont u need the knock sensor to retra. the timing while under boost pressure?

I don't think anyone really has good idea of how the factory knock control unit actually works in terms of exactly when it retards timing and by how much. A lot of people say it really doesn't provide additional timing retard under boost, or at least not enough to make a difference. I have datalogged the stock knock sensor on my Power FC and it can be very noisy depending on the car.

you dont need to connect the knock sensor. The safc only controls your fuel mixture, it does not change the timing.

You can keep the SAFC working and just disconnect the AFM wires form the SAFC and splice them together. Then the SAFC has no control at all.

If you cut power, as you have found, the AFM wire will alwayds be open and your car will not start or if it does, it will run RICH RICH RICH.

Why are you wanting to disconnect it?
