First tune
 
Hello all, recently installed my SAFCII into my 88se.

Current mods are:
Emissions removal
Racing Beat Header into Racing Beat presilencer emptying into stock catback
Cone Filter(no box for it yet)
AC and PS delete
FD Alternator with dual pulley
Removed Airpump.

Im going to be installing an Autometer A/F guage in the next few days as well as a full tune up.

I have yet to mess with the settings of the controller, though have noted the TPS issue and would like to be able to tune her for better fuel economy on one map and more power on the second.
Im seeking any help and would also like a possible solution to the throttle issue.

The whole business of using the MAP for throttle input is more for turbo’s, especially S4 turbo’s.

NA fuel economy tuning considerations:
During low throttle cruising, the ECU is in closed loop with the O2 sensor, and it ignores the AFM signal.
The AFR gauge will show when you’re in closed loop with a bouncing signal from lean to stoich.
Most cruising is at 5-20% throttle & low revs, so setting the NE points to 1000 1500 2000 2500 3000 4000 5000 6000, gives more precision at the lower revs.
Setting the throttle points to 60 & 99 on the S4 or 20 & 99 on the S5 will keep you in the low map while driving in open loop (mostly light acceleration).

You can lean the low map by ear:
While sitting in neutral, hold the revs at 1K & lean the 1K correction on the S-AFC until you start to get a slight random miss, then add back a little.
Repeat the process for 1500 2000 & 2500 .
The set the remaining points tapering up with a little less lean as you go up the chart.

Setting the high power map really takes a wideband to do it the easy way.
Without a wideband, you can do a hard pull, shut off the motor, pull off the road, & read the plugs.
