i just got a good deal on a super afc and I bought it...
are you guys saying the super afc is good for nothing???? the only thing it does is tune down bigger injectors??? can someone clarify if this is actually going to help, or should I wait and install later...


i just have a stock 89 tII, and before I get power mods I wanted reliability...so i orderd my a piller mount with boost/air/fuel gauges/ I got the good deal on the super afc and I have a walboro fuel pump on order!?!?! What the heck is the afc's purpose? i thought It helped your car run better by not making it run lean? For example, after i got the above mentioned mods, I plan on getting intake, tid mod, full exhaust, boost controller, fcd.

I will only plan on running 9, 10psi set by the controller. I figure since fuel cut is 8.6 psi, that if it was running 9 or 10 psi,(1 to 2 psi more than fuel cut) the fuel pump and heres why I bought, the Super Afc could make sure I get enough fuel by bumping it up a little bit to make sure it doesn't lean out. I hope I dont have to get bigger injectors and remapped fuel computer just to run 1.5psi higher than fuel cut. I know the computer cannot realize its running 10psi, but its only 1.5psi higher than it can read. The super afc has to able to compensate for this little increase , i hope?

Anyone have any thoughts on this setup. These are the only mods I ever want to do power wise.....exception of electric fan, pulleys...etc..but for turbo and mods that raise boost...thats it...

fcd will be needed first, and yes the S-afc can add enough for 1.5psi increase over cut.

The only thing it does is alter the amount of fuel injected into the engine based on rpm and load. If you have bigger injectors, then you need to be able to do that or you'll run too rich.

It can be used to do that if you need it. The principal reason for installing a fuel controller is so you can optimise the mixtures. Most cars run very rich full-load mixtures stock (the factory's insurance policy) and so even with mods you can gain power and fuel ecomony by taking a little fuel out. Your car may run rich in the mid-range but a little lean up top, so you can make adjustments to help that.

At 10psi with a Walbro pump it is very unlikely that you will need to add more fuel. The fuel system's weak link at 10psi is the pump, not the injectors or ECU, so by installing a pump that can maintain the necessary pressure, you mictures are probably safe without the S-AFC. But that doesn't mean there aren't gains to be had from proper tuning. You won't really know until you get onto a dyno and have the mixtures checked out. The S-AFC can then be tuned properly.
