Any Reputable RX7 Tuning Shops in South Texas?

I am looking for a reputable shop to get my RX-7 tuned in South Texas. I know that there is Gotham Racing in the Dallas Area thats about 650 miles from me, but I was looking for something perhaps a little further South, possibly Corpus Christi or San Antonio area. Any suggestions or would I be better off just taking it to Gotham Racing?

your probably better off going to gotham racing, their probably the best shop in the south for rx-7s

I recommend Rotary Performance in Dallas. I know it is not the closest, but they do a great job.

+2 for Rotary Performance. The originator. Ari has forgotten more than most of these other shops will ever know when it comes the the 7.

+ 3 for ari at rotary performance

There is Alamo Rotary here in San Antonio but you might want to search on the forum to find anything about them or give them a call. I know people keep going back so they must be prety good. I have never brought my car there because i do my own work and im always broke. lol

heres there website http://alamorotary.com/

Thanks guys that at least gives me a couple more options. I will do some research on these other shops and go from there. Thanks for the input, I didnt have any input on my only other post so it is appreciated.

I can do it as well.

However, if you're forced to only have it down way down south, then look into Sleeper7 or Lee (can't remember his last name). Sleeper7 (Chuck) is in San Antonio and Lee is I think in the same area. Perhaps someone else could give some more information.

What services does Fastlane offer for Rx7s? My buddy is very familiar with that shop and he is not aware of them offerring tuning or motor work for Rx7s. I tune Rx7s and have never heard of anyone having their 7 tuned at Fastlane, I'm curious.

My buddy saw your car at the shop this week and said you have a nice FD.

They can also be found here. http://rcmracing.org/mazda/index.php As can a lot of the local RX-7 guys.

take it to Gotham or Ari at rx7.com , both have tuned rx-7's forever. I'd stay away from anyone else, not worth rebuilding another motor. Spend the money now or pay later.

Unfortunately, I've not messed with it even though I understand it's pretty easy compared to the stuff I do work on.

I Think BDC is the way to go sure know what to do

n.houstonrx7 02-20-08 12:30 AM

I have been very happy with fastlane and just because they just did a rx7 does not mean that they do not know what they are doing remember that one day Gotham and rx7.com were just starting out so just because they are new does not mean they dont know what they are doing hell while working on my car they were also working on a Ferrari

Warlock2X 02-20-08 01:03 AM

Calm down, nobody was attacking them or you.

I simply asked about the work they were performing on your car so I could get an idea of what they do on Rx7s. I speak to alot of Rx7 owners needing work and many folks want a "shop" to do the work on their car, it would be nice to have someone in Houston to refer them to and until I get some feedback on Fastlane I cannot recommend them.

I retract my comment about the nice car until I see it in person, jk, ever come to a Houston Rx7 club meeting?

bigdv519 02-21-08 11:31 PM

I've personally delt with Ari and Chris at RX7.com and their knowlegde is emmense. They have so much history and old-wise-men style wisdom. BDC, hopefully this time around we'll be able to meet up and do lunch or something. I'm heading back up there maaybe on the 8th. Oh yeah, this is Dominic from Houston.

n.houstonrx7: where is fastlane and who fiddles with rx7's there?

kyle: quit messing around and open a shop already!

wReX 02-22-08 12:50 AM

if those two SA guys aren't able to give you a hand then I would highly recommend MZM Performance in Austin, they built my motor and tuned the car. They can dyno in house or street tune and I have been very happy with all of their work. Any of the Dallas guys would be great too if you're willing to drive that far, some very knowledgeable tuners in Houston as well.

Ari and chris do great work! So does Brian as far as getting a engine rebuilt i would probably go with brian. He has some of the best port work i have seen to date.
