Wiring help plz...
I just went single and I noticed I was charged a lot for wiring. According to my guy here, he had to take out all the extra wiring that went to the original twin turbo set-up, retrace it back to the PFC and remove it. Then he had to install my Defi Link guages (Oil P & TEMP, 2 EGT sensors - all of them linked) and he also installed the Blitz SBC-iD boost controller, and Power Meter. Also include any other stuff that needs to be done when going single that I may be unaware of. Take into account that my wiring harness was probably a lttile out of shape as well. He charged me for almost 4 1/2 days worth of work. Does that sound like too much???
Also, how much have you guys typically paid per hour for wiring? I don't want to accuse anybody before I get all the details, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone! |
Doesn't the PFC use the stock harness?
I don't believe there's much actual wiring that goes to the twins. Can an FD guy confirm this? |
He pulled the wiring all the way back to the ECU?!? WAAAAYYYYYYY overkill. Though, I wonder what the weight savings is on that? :D
Seriously, there's no wiring to the turbo assy. Just some vac. lines. All the wiring is under the UIM to the solenoids and some emissions things. I'm in the middle of a single conversion. Yes, there is a lot of crap that can go, but if done right, you just need to cut it back to the main loom; obviously making sure that the wires are properly isolated from everything else (shorts = bad). I think he went above and beyond and sure as hell charged you for it though it wasn't necessary. |
Yeah I thought so. Now I have to go and see if he's trying to overkill me on anything else. Thx for the help boyz.

I removed all the unnecessary wires all the way back to the ecu, and it took me a couple of hours. The harness was also out of the car though.
