Why are wastegates so darn Expensive?

I am in the market for a wastegate, man are these things made with a rare metal or something, gezzz they are high.

If Chuckie wants to play, Chuckie has to pay!

Where were you Friday, Kyle and I wanted to drive down there?

AWD-RWD racer 03-17-07 10:08 AM

Buy a tial WG theyre affordable. Ebay WGs do the job you just have to ask yourself do you want something thats not made of good quality controlling a important job?

I second the motion of a Tial. I run the 44mm v-band wg and their BOV and love them both.

I was just looking to replace the Type R Greddy WG on a customer's T-78 setup, and you can buy three tials for the retail price of that thing.......

JHew84 03-17-07 06:59 PM

I'll third the motion for tial's. I am overly impressed with the build quality of the ones i've seen, all very nice peices.

You need to keep in mind your not paying for just the raw materials, your paying for the process in which the raw material is formed into a WG. The machinery and employees needed to make such products all need to be paid for somehow.

im running the greddy type R and i love it but it was pricey id recomend the tial also if you dont wanna spend that much

I'm going with the Tial bovs and their wastegate. They make turbos also, anyone running one?

Zero R 03-18-07 04:56 PM

They sell Garrett turbos and are a Garrett Performance House, I run tial gates on all my kits they are solid performers and aren't too overly priced.

JHew84 03-18-07 08:45 PM

Yeah they don't sell turbos, but they do have a new line of Vband hotsides, pretty cool :D.

FC3S_nataku 03-21-07 12:15 PM

where do you buy a tial wastegate?

el_rotary 03-21-07 12:26 PM

Anybody heard anything about the Turbosmart wastegate. A bit more expensive but if the quality is better than why not?

If you say boost creep you need to explain why/how. Not as fast'enuff, not big'enuff, the piston is not air tight <(I no that the cheapo BOV do not seal right)

enzo250 03-23-07 09:38 AM

I have a 46mm tial if anyone is interested...
Don't need it anymore...
