who to tune a car in central FL?
Well by the end of summer I should have my microtech, but I was wondering who I should trust to tune my car. There are people around here that will do it, but one guy barely got 400rwhp out of a T66 and a ported engine.

Re: Re: who to tune a car in central FL?
Originally posted by pianoprodigy I assume you're talking about me. At the time, I was also driving my car every day, so my tuning is conservative. It was also almost 100 degrees in the room with the dyno on the day we made 410 RWHP at 16 psi. I'm not saying that Scott is the tuning god, but don't downplay a car that makes 410 rwhp reliably. Oh, I definitely don't mean to downplay your car at all. I just think it could be tuned for some more power, wouldn't you agree? That power range is just what I see for 60-1's for the most part at that boost level. But I do understand that turbo likes higher boost, right? Any way it goes, I've heard mixed stories about Scott and its just not something that settles all that well with me. And the temps could play a part and being reliable is also very important. |

Personally, I had originally hoped that my car would make more at 16 psi as well, but Scott knows my situation and that I can't afford to have any major problems with my car at this stage in my life (getting ready to start law school). I know he tuned it with this in mind. FYI: He recently purchased a shop car and will be testing the limits of his motor (exactly like mine) with a Microtech in the coming months. I don't pretend to completely understand compressor maps, but if you look at the T66, it seems to really enjoy the higher boost.http://64.225.76.178/catalog/compmaps/t66.gif |

But I was just looking for one of the "well-known" guys that like everyone on this board knows about internationally. Know what I mean? I still might let him tune it, but I'm just looking around right now. |
There is a tuner named Gabby from Puerto Rico. He's tuned crazy fast street and drag cars. One local car he did is Sporty's 9 second street driven FD. He deals with microtech, in my opinion he's one of the best in the world.

Anyone know how to read the above compressor map? I know that the Y axis (vertical) is Bar+Atmospheric Pressure, so 1 bar would be 2.0, right?
Where does my car fall on the X axis? Is it a standard Rx-7 number? Porting dependent? |
scott tuned my microtech... i couldnt be more unhappy with it...
BUT he did tune my Apexi Power FC (when i had it) and it was a PERFECT tune!!! work perfectly ALL the time... Scott told me the microtech was better for what i am doing so i bought it... and i dont really like it at all... just my $0.02 on it... Scott is a great guy and i have worked with him for years... but i wish i would have kept my PFC... -Keith |

I don't know Gabby, this statement is not for him "Anybody can Tun-a-Fish, Not Everybody can Tune a Piano" -From Tai & Crispeed. |
I would rather go to Scott
or Rolo even after a disagreement I had with him over someone overseas no matter how good they think there are BTW: Rolo was the one that brought gabby to australia with him for training When I had the Haltech no one could tune it locally and I was pushed by my old mechanic to not switch to Microtech and wait for "oso" from PR who is the Haltech god over there and months passed by and nothing so everyone including my self switched to MicroTech It realy sucks if your car starts acting up and you have to wait for someone to fly in and pay there airfair and tunning time Hell with that |
well, i don't perosnally know Directfreak, but i do believe that he is probably as picky with his car as i am with mine - and if he trusts Crispeed (he may not be Central Florida) but i'm willing to trust him based on that. you should probaly take your car there. shit, i know i will whenever i get my Turbo project to the tuning stage.
just an opinion ... |
i do all of my own basic tunning myself , but when it comes to higher boost etc , there is only one man i trust with my car .....rolo of central florida turbo to my knowledge he IS the best microtech (haltech also) tuner
